We devote a lot of digital ink on PawNation to discussing the cuteness of pets and animals, but us people can make some rather cute babies ourselves. Even animals are susceptible to the adorable charm of a newborn human. While we spend our time cooing over our infants, animals are aww-ing at our kids too. This orangutan practically signs up for babysitting duty once it spies a mother and her new baby visiting the zoo. Sadly, that business transaction goes sour when the little bundle of joy gets a bit cranky. Don't worry, eager primate mama; there are plenty of other adorable tykes out there for you to meet. ...
A baby's first achievements are important. First crawls, first steps, first words: diligent parents track these milestones throughout the initial months and years of a baby's life as the infant grows and develops so quickly. Well, "quickly" is a relative term. A human baby can spread his or her firsts across an entire calendar year, but a newborn harbor seal doesn't have time for that kind of lollygagging. When you watch this video, bear in mind that this baby seal was born mere hours before the footage was shot. This baby spends its first day of life taking its first steps, diving into water for the first time, having its first swim and barking its first "words." And you can tell how proud ...
WARSAW - Two giraffes in central Poland's Lodz Zoo died of stress after unidentified vandals went on a night-time rampage, the zoo's management said Monday. The vandals broke in overnight Saturday to Sunday, destroying benches, signs and sculptures and hurling pieces of the debris at the animals. One of the giraffes died within hours of the incident and the second was found dead Monday morning. RELATED: Heroin Substitute Found in Deceased Dolphins "The autopsy of the first giraffe, three-year-old female, found a ruptured heart valve and bruising, a sign of a severe stress reaction," the zoo's deputy director Wlodzimierz Stanislawski told AFP. Who better to test out the durability of a family car than a bunch of boisterous baboons? Korean car maker Hyundai decided to bring their Hyundai i30 to Knowsley Safari Park in Merseyside, England to see for themselves. The monkey bunch was given 10 unattended hours with the car. The 40 baboons did everything imaginable to the Hyundai, hanging from both inside and outside the car, prying the its interior with their sticky fingers and relieving themselves when nature called. During their test run, the destructive primates jumped up and down on the seats and scrambled through the car's sliding glass roof and windows. Tigers are rare enough in general, with all six existing species currently on the endangered list. Keeping that in mind, imagine if your zoo managed to breed a litter of four super-rare white tigers, one of which is albino. You would have hit the breeding-program jackpot. And that's exactly what's happened for the Yalta Zoo in Yalta, Ukraine, where these quadruplet kittens were born on Sunday, May 6. Litters of these seldom-seen animals normally number two or three, so these four cuties are rare indeed, not to mention adorable as all get-out. Watch the video below to see zoo staff bottle feed these odds-defying, days-old cutie pies. ...
