Hello. How do you do? Matilda the cat here, writing from my vacation chateau while my home, the famous Algonquin Hotel in New York City, is undergoing marvelous renovations. I am the tenth Algonquin cat, a spiritual descendant of the Algonquin's first feline mascot, Rusty. Rusty was a disheveled cat who appeared at the hotel in the 1930s in search of food and shelter. The hotel's then owner, Frank Case, provided Rusty with food and a permanent home in the lobby, where he became a hit with guests and visitors. Rusty would drink milk only from a champagne glass.
