primates.

We devote a lot of digital ink on PawNation to discussing the cuteness of pets and animals, but us people can make some rather cute babies ourselves. Even animals are susceptible to the adorable charm of a newborn human. While we spend our time cooing over our infants, animals are aww-ing at our kids too. This orangutan practically signs up for babysitting duty once it spies a mother and her new baby visiting the zoo. Sadly, that business transaction goes sour when the little bundle of joy gets a bit cranky. Don't worry, eager primate mama; there are plenty of other adorable tykes out there for you to meet. ...

40 Baboons Pull Apart Brand New Car

Who better to test out the durability of a family car than a bunch of boisterous baboons? Korean car maker Hyundai decided to bring their Hyundai i30 to Knowsley Safari Park in Merseyside, England to see for themselves. The monkey bunch was given 10 unattended hours with the car. The 40 baboons did everything imaginable to the Hyundai, hanging from both inside and outside the car, prying the its interior with their sticky fingers and relieving themselves when nature called. Javier Garcia, AP Is there anything more precious than a monkey (other than baby sloths)? Not to us. We love monkeys at Paw Nation, and it turns out we now have a new primate to ooh and ahh over. Scientists recently discovered a brand-new species of monkey in the Caquetá region of Colombia, near the borders of Ecuador and Peru, MSNBC reports. The primate's existence had been suspected for three decades, but violence in the area made it impossible to explore the forested region. In 2008, researchers from the National University of Colombia made their way into the jungle and confirmed the existence of the new species, a type of titi monkey officially known as Callicebus caquetensis. ...

Java macaques in a zoo. giuss95, Flickr Polly Schultz loves to cuddle Baby George. When he recently underwent surgery, she spent hours snuggling with him on the couch. There are a few things, however, Schultz can't share with George. She can't eat food in front of him. Neither can any other residents of her house. That would be rude. "We don't break monkey rules," Schultz tells Paw Nation. Baby George is not one of Schultz's' children. George is a java macaque at the OPR Coastal Primate Sanctuary in Longview, Wash. Schultz is the founder and CEO of the refuge George shares with other macaques as well as capuchin, vervet, marmoset, tamarin and spider monkeys. Once called Oregon Primate ...
