Zoo Elephant Raises Money with Paintings

Elephants never forget, and that means they never forget about their own kind, especially when they need a little help. According to WMAQ-TV, Shanti, an elephant at the Prague Zoo, is creating and selling original works of art in a fund-raising effort to help other elephants in need. Shanti had her first art opening this month when a Czech gallery displayed her colorful and abstract creations. The profits from Shanti's paintings went to aid an elephant zoo in Sri Lanka. Specifically, the money from the masterpieces helped purchase an ultrasound device. The Prague Zoo hopes this is the first of many opportunities for Shanti's creative work to go to good use.
