Pet Pockets and Cuddle Blankets product picture

Let's face it: owners of teacup-sized dogs face a certain stigma, one that places them quite high on the spectrum of annoying-to-obnoxious pet owners (as the proud father of a 17-pound pup myself, I know quite well the stereotype I could be placed in). We see it in books, film, and on television: the pretty young tart who totes her spoiled Chihuahua – already draped in high-end doggy boutique wares – in a bag that costs three times our monthly rent. It's a cultural touchstone, one that has been pushed to the forefront by Paris Hilton, Legally Blonde, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Pet Pockets and Cuddle Blankets are yet another touchstone.

The Pet Pocket is essentially a $50 pillow case that comes with an extra flap "for snuggling," which the Cuddle Blanket also provides, albeit in blanket form. Meaning there's finally a product for the dog who has everything except an especially silly double blanket.

Your dog, no matter how big or small (or spoiled) doesn't need these. Like with us humans, just stick the little thing under a blanket, make sure he doesn't suffocate, and cuddle away your days and nights. However, we'd be lying if we said that the pups modeling these things weren't some of the cutest things we've ever seen.

Verdict: if you can afford a Pet Pocket or Cuddle Blanket for your prized pooch, go for it. If, however, you're strapped for cash, may we make a suggestion? HUG IT OUT!

Losing a loved one is never easy. In fact, it's not uncommon among pet owners to see the remains of their cat or dog (or... other beloved friend) cremated and kept in an urn for good housekeeping. But the idea of taking those ashes and spilling them from an urn into a pillow? Frankly, that gives us the heebie-jeebies.

The Soft-Hearted Pillow is just that: an alternative to the "solid, stationary urn, positioned on a shelf, forever still" (well, when you put it that way...). Indeed, in those hard times, the wish to hug your furry friend just one more time is a painful part of the mourning process, but the prospect of embracing a pillow and feeling the ashes -- kept inside a pouch hidden within the pillow itself -- is, how you say, creepy times a thousand.

The Soft-Hearted Pillow is made from micro fleece fabrics and comes in three colors with a braided trim and "option for personalization," meaning that when a guest asks why the pillow on which they're sleeping reads "Mrs. Twinkletoes," they may just trade the dead cat for mere floor board.

Rest in peace, kitty, just as we do on you.
