Shaquille O'Neal has expressed an interest in acquiring the smallest horse in the world
, reports the Union Leader of Manchester, N.H. Shaq's interest was sparked by an article in the Union Leader that compared his 7-foot, 1-inch height to that of the tiny horse, named Einstein, which stands in at just 1 foot, 8 inches.

Less than 7 months old, Einstein has become an international celebrity. Although Guinness World Records won't bestow the official title of "world's smallest living horse" until Einstein has celebrated his fourth birthday, many think he'll take the title. In the meantime, he certainly has captured the media's attention. The horse has been featured in numerous newspaper articles, and was recently shown on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Einstein weighed only six pounds and stood at 14 inches when he was born in mid-April at the Tiz A Miniature Horse Farm in Barnstead, N.H.

As perfectly proportioned as a regular-sized horse (just much smaller), Einstein has quite the fan base, including Shaq and Paris Hilton, who both have inquired about purchasing the small steed. The Union Leader recently reported that O'Neal learned of the wee foal during a Boston Celtics preseason trip to New Hampshire. He soon after asked about buying the horse, and recently said via Twitter, "how much I like dat horse." Hilton also left a message on her Twitter account about buying the horse, and was quoted in the Boston Herald as calling Einstein "hot."

But Einstein's owners, Rachel Wagner and Charles Cantrell, say he's not for sale. Neither O'Neal nor Hilton could write a large enough check for Einstein, Cantrell told the Union Leader. He went on to say that the horse is happy at his home. Clearly, Einstein is a star in his own right, and doesn't need to be part of a celebrity entourage. He has even inked a book deal. This spring, the Disney Book Group will publish a photo book of Einstein, and he'll go on a book tour for his first birthday.

While Einstein will stay with his original owners, that doesn't mean Shaq can't still own a small horse. Cantrell told the Union Leader that he would be happy to introduce O'Neal to a top breeder of miniature horses.

Paris Buys Pug to Get Over Guy
Some girls get a new haircut or pricey pair of shoes to move on after a breakup. Paris Hilton, however, isn't like most girls, and after a split from Doug Reinhardt, she's consoling herself with a new Pug puppy. The puppy is sure to find friends in Hilton's menagerie, which, according to the Daily Mail, currently includes 17 chihuahuas and a Pomeranian. According to Hilton's Twitter feed, the little fella's name is Mugsy.

Sea Lion Pup Goes Climbing
Forget "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"; we've got a sea-lion on a rooftop deck in Newport Beach, Calif. The pup climbed the outdoor stairs to Mike Kai's rooftop deck, according to the Orange County Register. Kai took a few pictures and shot a short video of the little guy before Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach snagged him. The pup, aptly named "Fiddler," weighs about 40 percent less than he should, and -- fingers, er, fins crossed -- will be released after two to three months of rehabilitation.

Kitten Safe and Sound After Car Engine Ride
Three days after taking a harrowing trip in the engine of a Sydney Highway Patrol Car, Cartwright, a 4-week-old kitten was back in the arms of the man who saved him, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. Senior Constable Tex Tannous heard the kitten meowing under the hood of his police vehicle but it took mechanics to actually get the cat out of the hot engine. Although Cartwright was terrified after his two-hours in the engine, the kitty was uninjured.

Australian Restaurant Must Apologize and Pay After Refusing Entry to "Gay" Dog
In both strange and infuriating news, a blind man's guide dog wasn't allowed to enter an Australian restaurant last year because the staff thought they heard the man's friend refer to the dog as a "gay" dog, not a "guide" dog, reports the Huffington Post. The dog's owner will be receiving an apology and $1,400 in compensation for the incident.

There is no doubt that celebrities live the glamorous life. Sure, fame can cause you to lose your dignity, sanity and any reasonable concept of how many bedrooms one could possibly need. On the flip side, you do get tons of free stuff. And who wants to say no to free stuff? Especially if it is an adorable micro pet.

At last month's Golden Globes ceremony, the swag -- aka the free stuff -- was flowing as usual. Except that amidst the fancy clothes, sparkly jewelry, decadent spa treatments and more, celebs were being gifted with those cute little micro pigs everyone's been clamoring for -- and concerned about -- since Paris Hilton trotted out her own squealing piglet.

GBK, a luxury lifestyle gifting and special events company, included in its Golden Globes swag some lovely truffle salt, truffle oil and oh, yes, a certificate from Patty's Royal Dandie Miniature Pet Pig farm for a free pig -- valued at $5,000. New owners would be required to complete a one-hour course (a whole hour!) on caring for the squiggly piggly (which can range in size from 19 to 39 pounds depending on the type of pig) and then the animal would be hand delivered to the celeb.

While some think micro-pigs are too high maintenance for pets, Paris Hilton simply keeps her pig in a blanket... in her bed. The heiress revealed that she and her boyfriend, Doug Reinhardt, love to cuddle up with her mini pig in bed, according to the UK's Daily Mail.

"Doug and I will be lying in bed, watching DVDs, and she'll just lie there between us," she told Hello! magazine when she showed off her tiny pig wrapped in a pink blanket during a Christmas photo shoot.

Along with Victoria Beckham, who owns two of the must-have pigs, Hilton helped fuel the micro-pig craze when she purchased Miss Piglette. Hilton's new BFF, who will grow up to be just 14 inches, is the latest addition to the 28-year-old's pack of 13 pets.

While Hilton's pricey piggy might not have her own designer clothes or live in a mini mansion like Hilton's dogs, she seems perfectly content cuddling in the socialite's bed.

Paris Hilton adopts himalayan mix kitten picture

The hotel heiress and reality star is well-known for her love of diminutive dogs, but last week Paris Hilton decided to explore her feline side.

She broke the news of her kitten adoption on Twitter July 29, tweeting, "I adopted the cutest kitten today. I named her Princess Annabelle. She is so adorable and sweet!" Hilton urged others to contact Laurel Pet Hospital in West Hollywood, California, where she adopted the adorable kitty. "There's other kittens there that are in need of homes," she tweeted.

Apparently, people listened. Dr. Meredith Rettinger, a veterinarian at Laurel Pet Hospital told Paw Nation that the practice, which also rescues animals, has since been getting "a lot of calls" from potential adopters. "Some of the people say that they would never have thought about adopting a mixed-breed cat, and that they've only had purebreds," Dr. Rettinger told Paw Nation. But seeing Hilton adopt a Himalayan-mix cat changed their minds.

Ever wonder what it's like to be a pet of the rich and famous? For Dolce, Marilyn Monroe, Harajuku Bitch, Prince, Tinkerbell and nine other dogs, it's all about living in luxury. The pups' socialite-owner Paris Hilton recently posted pictures of their Beverly Hills 'Mini Doggie Mansion' on her Twitter page.

"I may have spoiled them a little too much. But how can I not? Just look at those sweet lil' faces, they deserve to be treated like my lil' prince and princesses :) I love my babies," Paris tweeted.

The poolside kennel is a mini replica of her mansion filled with tiny furniture pieces, a spiral staircase, a black chandelier, a balcony, and air conditioning, for those hot summer days.

True to her heiress fashion, Paris also created a designer wardrobe and 'Chewy Vuitton' beds for her pooches.

We can only wonder when they'll get their own mini pink Bentleys.

hiltonDiamonds may be a girl's best friend, but for Paris Hilton, it just might be diamonds and doggies. The socialite heiress is notorious for her penchant for petite pooches, admitting to Ellen Degeneres in 2008 that she had 17 dogs.

And now, Paris has an 18th: a tiny teacup Pomeranian that was a birthday gift from a new boyfriend and reportedly cost an eye-popping $10,000.

Appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show on March 9, 2009, Paris was coy about whether she was single or in a relationship before finally admitting that she was dating someone named "Doug." That would be Doug Reinhardt, a baseball player most notable for appearing on the fourth season of MTV's "The Hills" reality show.

"We just got back from Tokyo," Paris told Ellen. "It was a lot of fun. He bought me a puppy."

"Another puppy?" Ellen gasped. "Oh my God, what kind of puppy did he get you?"

"A tiny teacup Pomeranian. It's the cutest dog I've ever seen in my life," Paris gushed, sounding like a proud mama. "It's literally like this [cupping her hands together] teeny. I love him."

"We were in Tokyo at a pet store and we just saw it and fell in love," Paris continued.
