Nyan Cat, take a seat on the bench. Your replacement is here, and it has stubby little legs.

If you thought cats couldn't be animated, think again. In the tradition of web sensation Dramatic Chipmunk, the Internet has found its doppelganger, albeit not in rodent form.

Pay careful attention as this precious white kitty goes from chewing the grass to chewing the scenery with a face so ghostly white, so incredibly spooky, that we're ready to hand over the Oscar.

(And kudos on the music!)

When it comes to famous cats, Maru is one of the web's undisputed video champions . Best known (especially in his homeland Japan) as "the cat that really likes boxes," Maru has gathered a loyal online following for his silly, carboard-hunting-and- playing antics.

Recently, Maru's owner decided to try some visual trickery on his precious kitty, filming Maru in "super slow motion" as he crawls, jumps, and dives into and over the very same box from a variety of angles. Maru's masterful precision in turning a simple box into his own obstacle course is a feat to witness, but in slo-mo, it's almost beautiful. Seriously. Check it out.

Cat fancying is tailor-made for the Internet. Never mind that all the things you love about your kitty – how soft she is, how she lays on your chest when you're taking a nap and how she makes that piece of string pay for its sins – are impossible to create in cyberspace.

The Web is full of sites uniting communities of cat lovers, and videos and memes catering to those who find unlikely kitty behavior utterly hilarious. Know Your Meme tracks well over a dozen separate humorous cat trends, from "Keyboard Cat" -- a piano-savvy feline who turns up whenever someone is embarrassing herself -- to "Spaghetti Cat," a Zelig-like, pasta-loving kitty who even has her own theme song and music video.
