It's difficult to tell how old this dog is. One thing is for sure: He looks a lot older right now than he probably is. And we'll wager a guess that he probably feels quite a bit older than he is too. Kittens will have that effect on you. A kitten may be the cutest thing in the world, but it's also a handful. Have to deal with three kittens at once? Well, prepare to get frazzled.

These kittens are starting to wake up, but Fido looks like he'd just as soon roll over and snooze for another hour or two. Imagine if you had three 4-year-olds, and it's 5 a.m. on Christmas morning, and all three kids are trying to get you out of bed. Now imagine that's every day. Sympathize with this poor pooch yet?

We know they're called the Feline Olympic Games, but if you think anything about the training involved is a "game," you're barking up the wrong tree! (Actually, barking up trees is a Canine Olympics event, so please excuse the expression.)

Look, you can't just decide as a 2-year-old adult that you want to be a feline Olympic athlete. You need to spend your whole life preparing. You need to make that decision and start training at 8 weeks old... at the lastest!

Look at these kittens. Do you think they messing around? Heck no! They do this agility training every single day. They're dedicating their lives to their sport. This ain't no walk in the park, jack.

It's hard to overstate this kitten's bravery. It's what, 8 weeks old or so? It'd be brave to stand up to a Yorkie, let alone an angry Rottweiler, a breed that--when it's snarling and snapping and pulling at its chain like that--could make a crown man wet his pants. But the kitten not only stands its ground, it even charges the big dog once or twice! Luckily, Bowser is all bark and no bite (literally). He doesn't seem truly angry or aggressive--he's not interested in harming the little guy--but he's probably frustrated by his inability to intimidate even a wee little kitten. Luckily, both animals walk away from the confrontation unscathed.

Our friend Oskar the blind kitten is back again, and now he's getting into the holiday spirit. Cat owners know that setting up and decorating the holiday tree may be made into an infinitely more harrowing ordeal than usual if there's a curious cat around. It turns out that whether or not that cat can see makes little different.

While we respect the courage it takes to antagonize two at once, it's still not very nice to harass your brothers when they're playing so nicely. This is what we call "instant karma."

At Paw Nation, sometimes we forget that some people aren't animal lovers. That thought is so antithetical to all that we believe in, it's difficult to comprehend. What's impossible to imagine is that anyone might not love the most precious of all creatures: kittens. Not only doesn't this woman like kittens, she's lives in crippling fear of them.

While we can't begin to understand this woman, we certainly sympathize with her. She is not hateful; she has a genuine, deep-seated fear of felines. And to be fair, it doesn't help that the camera keep cutting to that one, super creepy looking cat. Anyway, we'd offer this poor woman a message of encouragement here, but there's no way in the world she visits this website.

They're gonna do it anyway. You might as well put them in the ring and make it a real show.

Here at Paw Nation, we have a special soft spot for blind cats. You may remember a video we shared last month of Oskar, a blind 5-month-old cat playing with a hair dryer. This is another, even more adorable video of Oskar--only 2 months old here--playing with his very first toys, a couple of balls with bells in them. The sound of the bells allows Oskar to play just as well as other cats. You can see his initial bewilderment grow into curiosity and then active joy as he discovers how to have fun with his new toys.

A kitty city. Don't try to tell us it's something about which you've never daydreamed. We've definitely dreamed about it. So has animator Cyriak Harris. Now Harris has used his skills to create a video that depicts his version of Kitty City. We watched this, and frankly it's... exactly how we always pictured it in our fantasies.

Wicky wicky scratch! Actually, don't scratch. Well, don't scratch in the way you're used to scratching. OK, let's start over. Feel free to move the record back and forth on the turntable for a scratching effect, but please just keep your little kitten claws in while you do it. There's no sense doing damage to the sides unnecessarily.

DJ Cat Scratch, DJ Kitteh, DJ Puss, I gotta hand it to you kittens; you ain't bad. It's a little hard to figure out your BPM, but you still have a good sound. I'm willing to believe that what you're doing is avant-garde. Some might say that having three DJs working individually at the same time constitutes too many cooks, but not me. All we need is the get the right MC to work with you. What's Skat Kat up to these days?

Here's a great example of cat hacking. It's like a life hack, but for your cat. If you need to hypnotize your cat, you can do it by grasping its scruff. As you see, it'll pretty much freeze. This happens because when a mother cat carries its kittens, she does so by their scruffs. They freeze instinctually so they don't hurt themselves.

That having been said, it is never a good idea for you to lift or pick up an adult cat by its scruff. That can be dangerous. Even if you feel you might need to scruff your cat for some reason, consult with your veterinarian to learn how to do so properly. The people in this video, as vets, know what they're doing. You might not.

We caught Grumpy Old Cat watching this rescue video and muttering to himself, so we asked what he was thinking.

"These kittens today are so dumb! I never got stuck in a pipe when I was his age. No, sir! What does he think he is, a ferret?"

Grumpy Old Cat, that's not really fair. Your kind is known for getting caught in sticky situations. Haven't you ever heard the phrase "curiosity killed the cat"?

"Aw, baloney! That curiosity stuff is just a buncha politically-correct garbage that the bleeding hearts came up with so stupid cats wouldn't get their feelings hurt. A cat can use his brain to avoid getting stuck in pipes! That's what I do."

Well Grumpy Old Cat, what about the firefighters? Do you at least appreciate what they did? I mean, they did a really good job of saving that cat. They saved its life!

"Phooey! Are they firefighters or stupid-cat savers? Somewhere there's a fire that needs puttin' out, and these guys are over here fooling around with pipes and kittens. Why don't they do their job?"

Now you're just being rude, Grumpy Old Cat. You know perfectly well that firefighters don't only fight fires. They do all kinds of rescue work and life saving. You should have more respect.

"What a bunch of baloney."

Oh, Grumpy Old Cat. You're so grumpy!

Generally speaking, potential cat owners are advised not to adopt a kitten less than 8 weeks old. Newborn kittens are extremely delicate creatures, and ideally should spent their first weeks of life in the care of their mothers. But sometimes circumstances require that a human care for a newborn kitten younger than 8 weeks, or even from birth. This can be tricky, and requires owners adhere to specific feeding regimens, to pay attention to temperature requirements, and to avoid any number of other potential pitfalls that can harm or even kill very young kittens.

Let's be very clear that we in no way recommend that anyone hand-rear a cat from birth unless there is absolutely no other option.

That said, there is a reward in store for those brave enough and selfless enough to bottle-feed a newborn kitten: a kind of cuteness the likes of which cannot be experienced through any other means available on the planet Earth.
