According to Discovery News, a camera trap has captured footage of the Cross River gorilla, the world's rarest gorilla. The video only lasts a few minutes, but provides researchers with a great deal of information. Shot by the Wildlife Conservation Society at Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary, the footage shows a pack of these endangered animals. In the clip, one member of the pack is missing a hand, which is probably due to an unfortunate run-in with a poacher's snare. These are only glimpses into the complex and trying lives of these animals, but conservationists are excited nonetheless. This heart-tugging video captured the extraordinary reunion of two old friends: a man and the gorilla he raised from infancy. It had been five years since British naturalist Damian Aspinall had seen Kwibi, a lowland gorilla who was born at Howletts Wild Animal Park in England as part of an ongoing conservation program by the Aspinall Foundation to re-introduce gorillas back into the wilds of Africa.
