Actually, yes, we will call her overprotective. She won't even let the baby's pop look at him. Although heaven knows he'll be paying for therapy bills for years to come.

At the Berlin Zoo, Kathi the hippo gave birth to a bouncing baby calf. We don't want to call her overprotective, per se, but Kathi literally pushes away her other kids, according to the zoologist.

Remember those ads for Coca Cola with the computer-animated polar bears wearing scarves and going sledding? Yeah, that was weird, but so, so cute.
Good news is, we've got our paws on a video featuring a baby polar bear living it up in the fluffy white stuff, and we're not talking about his precious coat!
So forget about those soda bears and get rid of those winter blues by watching this little guy get all roly poly! Now if there were only a way to get him into our backyard...

Squirrel Monkeys. Credit: Edinburgh Zoo
Zookeepers at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland recently welcomed the arrival of 15 new monkey babies from three species. And they're all adorable.
There's been a squirrel monkey baby boom, with a whopping 12 births since last fall. Squirrel monkeys are recognizable by the tufts of white fur around their faces and throats. In the wild, they live in Central and South America, where they swing through the canopies of rain forests.
As sad as it is that 10-month-old chimpanzee Kartik was abandoned, there is a happy ending.
Zookeeper Srihari Charan at the Nandankanan Zoological Park in India has "adopted" Kartik, treating him as if he were his own child -- including putting him in a hot pink baby walker.

At the Sunshine International Aquarium in Tokyo, the aptly named baby anteater Sunshine is having a little trouble keeping his balance. So, naturally, he climbs onto Mama's back to make his way around the place.
Hey, if you're going to hitch a ride, it may as well be on the back of someone who loves you, right?

We love animals. And we understand the desire to take them everywhere. We put our cats in carriers and our dogs in bags. But we've never known anyone to carry her pet around in her bra -- until now.
In what is one of the most bizarre news stories in recent weeks, Cara the marmoset caused a stir when she was spotted in the Amherst County Courthouse in Virginia, reports the Lynchburg Virginia News and Advance. The little monkey is just 7 weeks old, so her owner didn't want to leave her at home while she ran to the courthouse to fill out some forms. As you'll see in the video below, Donna Bruce decided the easiest thing to do was stick her baby in her bra.

Spring is right around the corner, and nobody is more ready for it than this little piggy. The pretty farm girl from Daily Squee has been thinking of hot, sunny days all winter long. She just can't wait until it's warm enough to wallow in a nice, cool mud puddle. Until then, the sleepy sweetie will rely on a well-placed accessory and her sweet dreams to get her through.

If anybody's got a case of dance fever, it's this brown goat. Possibly the cutest barnyard animal ever, this little thing goes hip-hop-to-the-hip-hip-hippity-hop like a billy goat going berserk on the dance floor.
The man with the moves is a 3-week-old orphan Nubian goat who wants nothing more than to please his new mama by showing her that he's paying attention to her fancy footwork.

If I can't see Monday, Monday can't see me, right? Isn't that the way it works? That's what they told me at Daily Squee, and I always believe what they have to say! They also told me I was way too cute, and, well, we all know that's the honest truth.

Ahhhh, yoga. It feels so good to relax and focus and just be present, doesn't it? But you can forget about downward facing dog and child's pose, because our friends at Daily Squee have the hottest new asana: blissful fox. Namaste.

Considering it's still winter, there couldn't be a better time to look at our furry friends who live in a snowy wonderland. Take this baby seal, for example: He's just rolling around in the snow like he's the cutest snowman to ever come to life.
In fact, if we were rich and crazy, we would totally set up shop in Antarctica or wherever this little guy makes his mark. That's right -- we'd go all out: igloo, faux fur-lined boots, astronaut food -- anything to give this squealing seal the hug he deserves.

All the greatest love stories feature a smitten couple overcoming adversity, and this tale of two baby animals from Daily Squee is no different. A wee tiger cub, desperately in need of a friend, stumbles upon a mischievous baby monkey. Should they be pals? Well, their families might frown upon it, but the Paw Nation is a little more lenient when it comes to interspecies love. Our big question is how do we get in there for a Valentine's Day cuddle?

We love this video of 3-month-old red pandas. Those giant ears! Those cartoonish eyes! The floppy paws and fluffy tails! We just want to hug them.
Granted, these red pandas were born at the Knoxville Zoo last year, so they're older now and a little less cuddly. (And before you start yelling at us: Yes, we know, baby red pandas are not here for our cuddling pleasure. And, no, red pandas are not domesticated house pets. Trust us, we know.) But we can still dream.

Look carefully. How many cats do you see? Three, right? Three pretty felines, curled up against each other for warmth (and possibly to make us drivel with the need to embrace these adorable kitties). But just you wait. Hang out long enough (about 20 seconds), and you'll be amazed to see yet another scrumptious morsel snuggled in among the other three.

You might already be aware that, here at Paw Nation, we have a bit of a soft spot for baby sloths. Well, okay, we tend to have a soft spot for baby animals of all kinds, but sloths, with their long, goofy front legs and inquisitive little faces are special.
The folks at Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica think so, too -- especially Claire Trimer, the Sanctuary's baby sloth wrangler (and yes, that's what we want to be when we grow up, too!). The Sanctuary houses around 135 sloths, all there for various reasons, but all being cared for and loved just the same.
If watching the video below inspires you to learn more about Sloth Sanctuary or the furry darlings that live there, check out Sloth Sanctuary's website.
