When you think about the sport of surfing in America, overwhelmingly you tend to think of sunny Southern California. Maybe you also think of surfing off the coast of Florida. You probably don't think at all about surfing in the Colorado River at Glenwood Whitewater Park in Glenwood Spring, Colo. But apparently nobody told these geese that. They seem to have no trouble hanging 10--or really six. Actually none, since geese technically don't have toes. Or surfboards.

The price was right for television personality and longtime animal rights activist Bob Barker Wednesday when he paid for 25 circus lions to be airlifted from Bolivia to Colorado. The 13 males and 12 females were left without a place to live after Bolivia passed a law last year prohibiting all performances involving animals due to unethical and deplorable living conditions.

Thanks to the rescue, the 25 lions will now call the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colo., home. For more on this amazing feel-good story, watch the video below from our pals at "Good Morning America."

Bear at Colarado Skate Park picture

One black bear thought it would be gnarly to sneak onto a sunken skatepark in the resort town of Snowmass, Colo. on Monday. Unfortunately, we don't think he thought he'd be spending the night there.

The Daily Mail reports that on Tuesday morning, when the bear was discovered, workers from the Parks and Recreation Department had to lower a ladder down into one of the skate bowls in order to save the stuck bear. The poor guy couldn't get out because of the bowl's smooth sides and curved edges, the Daily Mail continues.

We hope this giant shredder learned his lesson -- and next time brings his board with him!

Fifty-two barn swallows, sparrows, and one bluebird -- all of them babies -- were retrieved by authorities from the bedroom of a 15-year-old Colorado boy earlier this week. According to the Associated Press, only 13 of the birds have survived thus far, though they are expected to fully recover.

Seemingly with the best of intentions -- or at least with no intent to harm -- the teenager had taken the baby birds out of their nests around his Longmont neighborhood and attempted, along with the help of other neighborhood kids, to feed them in his room to no avail. According to the AP, "The boy had no explanation for raiding the nests." Police decided to ticket the boy for "cruelty to animals and interference with wild birds."

Kudos to the boy's mom for promptly calling the authorities as soon as she realized what was going on. The birds had been in his room for roughly 24-hours before authorities were called, which is why at least 13 will make it to adulthood.

Who's to say what his logic had been, but as said by Gabriele Paul, operations manager of Boulder, Colorado's Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where the birds were taken, "Every once in a while, we get animals from people who mean well. They don't know it is illegal to do it themselves."

Perhaps there is a future, world-class veterinarian who will come out of this unfortunate story.

Coyotes with splotches of pink fur? It's not your imagination. At least not in Denver.

In response to increasing numbers of coyote sightings near homes, the Greenwood Village Police Department has armed its cops with paintball guns in hopes of humanely pushing the wild animals out of local backyards.

"The city of Greenwood Village has dealt with coyotes for years," Police Lt. Joe Harvey told ABCNews.com. "It's never been as bad as it is now."

So far, only one resident has been hurt by a coyote. In December, a teenager was attacked in a town park but was unharmed. Another resident reported a coyote grabbing his Shih Tzu. Sadly, Greenwood Village police discovered a coyote's den with 30 dog and cat collars.
