By now, the antics of Tillman the skateboarding bulldog is the stuff of Internet yore. It is history, never to be rewritten, but rather to remain in the annals of online ephemera until the World Wide Web's last dying da--
Whoops, our bad. Here's Tillman playing a skateboarding video game (really well, obvs).

My mom and my wife both were bitten as kids. Anna's bite was a lot more serious than my mother's, yet Anna loves dogs and my mom does not. What gives?
Anna's family got an English springer spaniel puppy when she was about four, and there seemed to be something wrong with her almost immediately. She snarled inexplicably and was very food territorial. They had to be sure not to walk behind her while she was eating. When Anna was six, the dog attacked her at the top of a set of stairs: "She knocked me onto my back and did not let go. She had my whole forearm in her mouth and bit me several times before my mother could pull her off of me."
She doesn't remember much about the aftermath other than (gross-out alert) "the blood and the tissue that I saw hanging out of the hole in my arm." Her mother cleaned the wound and took her to the hospital, where she got stitches in five places on her arm and a bandage she had to wear for weeks.

Personality: Despite its name, the only sign of bullishness in a bulldog (a.k.a., the British bulldog, which is a different breed from the American bulldog and the French bulldog) is an occasional stubborn streak. They are actually quite docile, easygoing, friendly creatures known to get along well with other dogs and humans young and old. In fact, the bulldog's stout legs and below-average intelligence can actually give off a rather lazy temperament.
Grooming: Bulldogs are low-maintenance when it comes to grooming, and their coats will need only a light, gentle brushing once or twice a week. Baths are rarely necessary, but a daily, light cleaning of the bulldog's skin folds and curled tail -- which can be done with a warm, damp washcloth and a little shampoo, or an ordinary baby wipe -- will prevent skin problems and infections. Uga VII died last week due to heart failure.

In an e-mail to the school's Athletic Director, Damon M. Evans, PETA asked the school to stop breeding animals to avoid deadly genetic issues.
"Purebred dogs are prone to countless congenital ailments from years of inbreeding -- every breeder perpetuates these genetic problems for future generations with each litter," PETA said in their e-mail to Evans. "Bulldogs are especially predisposed to breathing difficulties, hip dysplasia, and, as shown in the Uga lineage, heart disorders."
PETA also explains that Uga VII's heart illness was worsened by the pooch's exposure to hot weather and poor ventilation. The dog was four years old when he died.
Uga the Bulldog as been the University of Georgia's beloved mascot since 1956, according to the University's Web site. The school has not yet announced Uga VII's successor.

The purebred pup's death is attributed to heart-related causes and took everyone by surprise, including his owner, Frank "Sonny" Seiler. "We are all in a state of shock," Seiler said on the University's athletics Web site, georgiadogs.com. "We had no warning whatsoever."
This weekend, there will be no live mascot at the game. Rather, a wreath will hang on Uga's doghouse on the north sideline. The University doesn't expect to choose a replacement until next year.

There are a few dog breeds known for being so ugly that they're cute. Here are some of our favorites.
Bulldogs, with their bowlegged walk and major underbite, are one of the most well-known. You might think that's a face only a mother can love, but once you have one of these affectionate canines vying for your attention, you'll likely be surprised!
Chinese Cresteds come in two versions, and the hairless only has fur on its head, tail, and feet. Until this year, the breed had dominated every one of the previous World's Ugliest Dog contests.
Komondors aren't exactly ugly. Unusual might be a better term. What else would you call a dog whose coat is easily compared to a mop?
Pugs are quite popular. You can't deny the fact that their smooshy noses are giggle-inducing.
Shar Peis have a very distinct "hippopotamus head shape." Hey, that's the AKC's wording, not ours. Add to that a massive amount of wrinkles, and you have one of the ugliest breeds around!

There's excited, and then there's this bulldog, Gus. We're pretty sure that the human equivalent of this emotion is winning the lottery on Christmas day while on Prozac.
