babies.
It's no surprise that dogs that aren't used to being around babies are usually curious about them. After all, they sound, behave and smell much differently than us. As a parent-to-be, you're probably concerned about how your dog will react to your new bundle of joy. And it's completely understandable! Dogs react to new babies in a way that's very similar to the way a sibling reacts to a new baby. Your dog was your first "baby" and unless the introduction between your dog and your new baby happens like it should, your dog could experience hurt feelings. Preparing your dog for the baby's upcoming arrival in advance is by far the best thing you can do to help avoid jealousy between the ...
A couple of weeks ago we featured a video depicting a dog howling next to a crying baby. A lot of people gave the dog credit for "singing the baby to sleep." We posited that it seemed more like the dog was begging the infant to please just shut the heck up. What we have here is what genuinely seems like the world's most patient cat. Sure the cat wants this baby to pipe down, but it's remarkably gentle as it touches its furry paw to the distressed child's head, eventually lulling it to sleep. Cats may not be as friendly as dogs, but they're cool under pressure. ...
" Hey! Hey! Hey! Hi! Hi, I'm the dog! I'm your dog! I'm the family dog! Hey, it's really nice to meet you! Do you wanna play? Hey, do you wanna play with me? Let's play! Here's my ball! Hey, here's my ball! Here, take my ball! Throw the ball! Hey, throw the ball! Hey, throw my ball! Hey! Hey! OK, I'll wait a while until your brain starts making memories and your physical coordination kicks in and then you and me are gonna be best friends! Hey, you and me are gonna be best friends forever! I love you!" ...
t, eat your heart out. This tot is the brains of the family, and at only 22 months old, he's already the one the dog looks to as the Chief Executive, the Master in Command, the Big Shot. And why shouldn't he? The baby dog whisperer (we'll call him that because we can) has got it made. With a laugh like that, not only is the dog going to love him, but so will everybody else! Just don't be surprised when the Cuteness Smackdown unfolds. It's only inevitable. ...
Alicia Anna and I took our first road trip with our dog Pippi to see Anna's sister, Alicia and her family. They live on Cape Cod with a couple of adult Weimaraners, and Pippi had a great time romping around with the dogs. She also had a couple of other playmates: our 10-month-old niece, Caroline; and our nephew, Harold, who is two and a half years old. Pippi loves the kids in our neighborhood, but to our knowledge, she's never spent much time with babies or toddlers, so we wondered how she would handle it. Luckily, Caroline and Harold have been around dogs for all of their short lives, so they were very comfortable with Pippi and showed no fear. Harold chased Pippi around and around the ...
