When someone found a baby squirrel left alone in the garden of a bank in Hollywood, Mary Cummins of nearby non-profit rescue group Animal Advocates came to the little guy's aid, bringing him back and giving him the proper care necessary before releasing him into the wild. And by "the wild," we definitely mean Hollywood. Not everyone thinks rodents -- from rats to squirrels -- are cute, but just try and not coo as this little fella grasps the syringe with his big ol' paws. Go ahead, we dare ya! ...
A female cougar cub has made a splash at the Oregon Zoo, where she lives in a maternity den with her mama, Chinook. (Dad Paiute is around in the afternoons.) According to the zoo website, "cougars -- also known as mountain lions, pumas and (in Florida) panthers -- live mostly in the western United States and Canada. They weigh from 75 to 130 pounds and have a carnivorous diet both in the wild and at the zoo." The cub's keepers describe her as "brave and feisty," and quick to come around to being on public display. Says Michelle Schireman, Oregon Zoo cougar keeper, "She's quite the little explorer. Her comfort was the determining factor in our decision to open the exhibit to zoo visitors." ...

Children can be so fickle when it comes to toys. But pets and animals are our bread and butter, so when it comes to pleasing a baby with a toy, we don't even know where to start. Show us an otter, on the other hand, and we'll show you a rock. A rock that can, indeed, keep an otter happy all day as he basks in the sun, juggling and grappling the thing like it's the best thing he's ever seen. The video, needless to say, is kind of the best thing we've ever seen. Or at the least the best otter video we've ever seen. Sound the cute alarm! Share ...
