Someone finally decided to bring a camera to a primate pool party and document the swimming behavior of apes. According to International Business Times, researchers filmed the swimming and diving behaviors of a chimpanzee and an orangutan that were raised by humans. The footage shows these animals using a modified breaststroke to swim. This technique is closer to the swimming style humans use than the doggie-paddle preferred by most other animals. Each of the animals were taught to swim by their human caretakers, disputing previous claims that primates could never learn to swim.
