Aimee French of Phoenix, Ariz. saved the life of Sally Joe, a 9-week-old American bulldog mix. But this wouldn't be Sally Joe's last near-death experience. Several weeks ago, Sally Joe was at a kill shelter with her mother and siblings. Aimee French learned that the American bulldog family at the shelter was going to be put down, so she chose to adopt them. "I got there five minutes before Sally Joe was going to euthanized," French told KNXV-TV. French brought Sally Joe and her mother home. But days later, her new puppy was grabbed by a owl in her backyard. The Falconieri delle Orobie from the Villa d'Adda, Italy, became so smitten with a barn owl a family friend gifted their daughter, Martina, that their adoration turned into a full-fledged obsession. The family decided to make the adoption of nocturnal and diurnal raptors their full-time hobby.
