No Jessica Simpson interview is complete these days without an inquiry into the much-publicized loss of her Maltipoo, Daisy. The five-year-old dog, a gift from her then-husband Nick Lachey, was taken by a coyote one month ago and is now presumed dead.

"Daisy meant the world to me," the star told UsMagazine.com. "I hold her memory very, very close. It was an unfortunate thing what happened. That I don't have her every day... it's a very hard thing to talk about."

Will Simpson get a new dog? "I haven't really thought about another dog yet, but maybe sometime," Simpson continued. "[Daisy] would want that."

Betsy Rosenfeld, author of "The Complete Single's Guide to Being a Dog Owner: Choose the Right Breed, Train Your New Pup, Balance Dating and Dog Duties, Find Doggy Daycare and Travel With Your Dog," weighs in on Simpson's sad situation.

"I feel so much for Jessica Simpson," Rosenfeld tells Paw Nation. "Daisy was a constant source of unconditional love for her. To not have that enduring companionship is devastating."

Martha Stewart has reportedly apologized to Jessica Simpson for seemingly unsympathetic comments Martha made about the loss of Jessica's dog, Daisy. But is Martha really sorry? Read on and decide for yourself.

Daisy, a Maltese poodle mix who was Jessica's constant companion for the last five years, was snatched by a coyote on September 14 and has not been seen since, despite the efforts of pet detectives. The day after it happened, Martha publicly chastised Jessica, telling Usmagazine.com, "It's pretty sad. She should have watched it more closely, though. She should have been more careful."

Ouch. Daisy's disappearance and presumed death has reportedly left Jessica at the "lowest point in her life" and friends worry that the singer and reality star is headed for a "tailspin."

Perhaps Martha read those news reports. Or maybe the domestic maven-turned-talk show host recalled what it felt like to suddenly lose a cherished pet, such as when her Chow, Genghis Kahn, was killed in a kennel explosion earlier this year. In any event, Martha took a moment on her eponoymous daytime talk show this week to express her condolences to Jessica.

"I said that she should have been watching her dog more closely, but I feel very, very sorry for anybody that loses a pet," Martha said on her show Thursday. "Jessica, I hope you find your pet, but if you don't, I'm really sorry that you lost one."

While Martha is clearly sorry for Jessica's loss, it doesn't appear that she was apologizing for the critical comments she made about Jessica's dog caring skills. Or does it? Well, at least Martha said she was sorry in one form or another. And that's a good thing.

Lots of people break big news over Twitter. For Jessica Simpson, the latest dish is nothing short of heartbreaking.

Simpson's dog, Daisy a maltese-poodle mix, was taken by a coyote yesterday, reports MSNBC.com. The 29-year-old singer tweeted about the incident last night. "My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR! We are searching. Hoping. Please help!" she wrote on her Twitter page.

Simpson also posted a Twitpic of a "Reward Offered" poster featuring a photo of the carmel-colored pup and asking anyone with information about the missing dog to get in touch via e-mail.

"We heard yelling and screaming coming from the direction of Jessica's house around 9 p.m.," an unidentified neighbor told the Boston Globe. "I can only imagine that it was that moment that it happened because the next day we saw posters up around the neighborhood announcing that Jessica had lost her dog to a coyote. It's so sad."

The Boston Globe adds that it's not the first time Jessica has tweeted about Daisy. Last month, she wrote on her twitter page that Daisy was smitten with a dog named Bella. "Daisy and her best friend Bella back together again. Lesbian lovas forever!" she wrote.
