Take a seat, Rebecca Black. "Friday" simply popped too early to be the summer jam of 2011. It's not even Memorial Day yet and we're already sick of you. We have a new web star about to take over the YouTube music scene.

Outta nowhere comes Mylo the Cat, dropping this track on the Internet like an atomic bomb, then standing back to watch his beats spread like a tidal wave leaving a nation of butts wigglin' in its wake. "I'm Just a Cat and I'm Doing Cat Stuff" will be the club banger of the summer, mark our words. Listen to this once and you'll be singing it every time you change your cat's box for the next thousand years. Only a matter of time before Weezy puts Mylo on Young Money. We can't wait for the Mylo/Nicki Minaj collabo.

I like to think I'm not overly susceptible to advertising. Sure, if an ad informs me about a product that I'll find genuinely useful, I might purchase it. But I imagine myself as someone who wouldn't buy an unnecessary item simply due to the content of a clever commercial.

Yet sometimes a commercial is so dead-on, hits that sweet spot so perfectly, it's like the ad execs created it with me in mind. That appears to be the case here. I'm pretty sure Sprint is trying to to hawk this device specifically to me and you, faithful Paw Nation readers. I have to admit, it kind of works. I just re-upped with a different service provider a couple of months ago and purchased a new smartphone, but there's a part of me that wants to pay to break my contract and switch to Sprint. It definitely (probably?) won't happen, but there is that part of me...

Allow us to get a little preachy for a minute here. There's a lesson to be learned from this video, in case your mother never taught you: being selfish doesn't pay. The two cats on either end of this haunch must have been absent on "sharing is caring" day at school, and their stubborn refusal to split their meat treat means that neither gets any. Instead, they're just making it really, really easy for that third cat to swoop in and help himself to a feast. In fact, they're making it so easy that you'd think they were holding it for him on purpose. (Only their frustrated growling suggests otherwise.) So not only will selfishness lead you nowhere, kids, it also leaves you prone to smarter people who will take advantage of your avarice. All the proof you need is right here on the screen.

Cat videos teaching us life lessons. Is there anything they can't do?

The thing about overcoming obstacles is that some obstacles seem so insurmountable, if you fail to negotiate them, no one would blame you, and if you do conquer them, you've accomplished something amazing. People cheer. You're a hero. A tiny chinchilla climbs onto imposing, human-sized furniture, everyone applauds. A pair of wee ducklings manage to flap themselves over a large stone obstruction, and the crowd goes wild.

On the other hand, if you're a house cat, you are among the most agile of all domesticated creatures. You should have no difficulty reaching any place inside an average house, much less negotiating a simple jump that barely counts as more than a step. If you struggle, no one will be proud of you when you finally make it; we'll just feel shame and embarrassment that it took you so long. But oh, how funny it was watching you try.

We all knew this would happen. Eventually, Maru the box cat would tire of trying to squeeze into those tiny spaces because, seriously, how many times can you do that?

Well, good news. Maru has discovered paper, and it's opened up for him (and us) an entirely new world in which the Internet's most curious cat is all like, "What is the deal with this stuff?"

Here's hoping Maru recycles.

Uh oh. Someone made a mess. Who could it be, hmm? The culprit must around here somewhere, having knocked over plants and gotten dirt all over the place. That's just terrible! Who would do such a thing? Certainly not this guy.

Nope, there are no dogs around these parts. But there are two cats, and one of them is in deep trouble. Will his face give it away? (Yes.)

Making Katy Perry proud, Mochi celebrates her first birthday some fancy-looking feline-friendly sushi and a sky blue wig that celebrates her kitty power (Katy Perry's own cat, Kitty Purry, surely wouldn't complain either if Mama threw a wig on her head).

Are we crazy, or does Mochi actually look good in that wig? Actually, we've already seen the web site for Kitty Wigs, so seeing one in action kind of ... makes sense.

If a cat's gonna look good, why not start with a wig, right?

Any cat owner will tell you that their beloved feline certainly knows how to pay attention when it comes to ... holding things. Feathers, yarn, you name it: if you hold it in the air, a cat will not take his eyes off the stuff. It's like candy to a baby, but only if the baby had amazing reflexes.

Someone captured this particular brand of kitty nuttiness on video, and made it into a sort of hipster-y music videos, replete with background music by the Magnetic Fields. It's called "Absolutely Cuckoo Cats," and the title is definitely apropos.

He ain't Maru, but it's fun to see Hobbes, an American cat, try his hand at fitting into small boxes. Stateside, we haven't had as much viral success as Maru with our cats (although there are plenty of memorable feline videos bouncing around YouTube), so it's nice to see Hobbes trying to push his way into the center of the internet zeitgeist.

Or at least that empty box.

American advertising execs thought they were being clever when they came up with the ubiquitous Got Milk? campaign that's put a thick leche mustache on one too many celebrities. But their counterparts on the other side of the pond have one upped them with a hilarious TV commercial for the Cravendale dairy company that's been running on teles across the U.K.

Narrated by "Rocky Horror Picture Show" star Tim Curry, the spot features a posse of felines that suddenly sprout opposable thumbs and gang up on an unsuspecting, milk-pouring man. We don't want to give away too much -- watch the video below -- but there may be a sinister-looking kitty delicately filing her claws in one scene.

Maru 2, like Maru 1 (or, you know, Maru), likes his boxes. He likes that they come in different shapes and sizes and that he can actually fit inside some of them! What a world, right? A world where cats can fit inside boxes like it's what they were born to do!

Well, an unofficial tournament is upon us. Watch as Maru 2 is put to the test with a wide array of boxes and box sizes and things to squeeze into! Go, kitty, go!

Dear Peeps,

I know you really love "National Treasure." I get it: It's an adventure. Nicolas Cage is riveting. And you've got a soft spot for Justin Bartha. You like what you like, and that's OK. I like milk and that mushy fishy stuff, so I understand. But do you understand what it's like for me to have to watch the same movie over and over and over? At this point, it's like duh, he's going to find the treasure in the pyramids or whatever! Seriously.

So how many times can you pretend you don't know what's going to happen? Do you think Cage is just going to show up in a different-colored fedora at some point or with an even worse hairpiece? Not to be rude, you guys, but it ain't gonna happen. So, please, just eject the disc already!

Also, did you buy "Cats & Dogs 2: the Revenge of Kitty Galore" blue-ray dvd yet? Because I'd love to get in on that.

Love, The Cat

"127 Hours" wasn't for everybody. Sure, many will tell you it was a great movie, a sentiment echoed by six Oscar nominations, including one for the award show's co-host (and protagonist in the movie), James Franco.

If you don't know anything about "127 Hours," it's based on a pretty gruesome plot point that might make you squirm -- if not faint.

Seems like this kitty, who gives a Grade-A performance in the short film '127 Seconds," took a few tips from Franco. Bravo!

Maru the cat is a famous feline from Japan, best known for diving into boxes. Anything but claustrophobic, Maru loves to squeeze into the tightest of spaces -- especially boxes.

Sadly, it looks like the Internet's favorite kitty has met his match.

Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert and Henry Winkler all understand the value of the "thumbs up" sign. It holds major ramifications and deep semantic value.

It's also really funny when a cat gives the thumbs up sign. Jimmy here, a polydactyl cat (one with more than the usual number of toes) is no exception.
