Why do we enjoy horror movies? Some people would say we like to be scared, as long as we're in a controlled environment. One gets a charge from the adrenaline rush of fear without any actual danger. That must be what this kitten is chasing after as she approaches again and again a source of blood-curdling terror: a tennis ball! She's not just another average, ordinary, every-day scaredy cat. We admire her tenacity and pluck, even while we laugh as she hops around like a jumping bean with each failed attack. What is so intimidating about a fuzzy yellow ball? In the end, the evil tennis ball remains decidedly unconquered. But our intrepid feline hero is well on her way to conquering something much more sinister: her own irrational fear.

Allow us to get a little preachy for a minute here. There's a lesson to be learned from this video, in case your mother never taught you: being selfish doesn't pay. The two cats on either end of this haunch must have been absent on "sharing is caring" day at school, and their stubborn refusal to split their meat treat means that neither gets any. Instead, they're just making it really, really easy for that third cat to swoop in and help himself to a feast. In fact, they're making it so easy that you'd think they were holding it for him on purpose. (Only their frustrated growling suggests otherwise.) So not only will selfishness lead you nowhere, kids, it also leaves you prone to smarter people who will take advantage of your avarice. All the proof you need is right here on the screen.

Cat videos teaching us life lessons. Is there anything they can't do?

Ikea. All over the world, bachelors and bachelorettes just out on their own flock to its stores to furnish their nascent apartment dwellings with fashionable particleboard décor. But just because they might not all be able to afford real furniture doesn't mean they don't deserve pets to love and look after. I know I buy my tables and chairs at Ikea because I want to save the money to keep a cat hanging around my bachelor pad.

It's in that spirit of inclusion that Ikea shot a commercial at their Wembley, London store for which they let 100 cats run loose, according to Gizmodo. Why exactly did they do this? The ad agency, Mother London, told the Guardian U.K. that cats know how to pursue their own comfort and they wanted to see where the cats went and what furniture made the felines the happiest.

The cats were allowed to make themselves at home in the store after hours while the crew shot as much footage as they could get. Then, just before opening, the cats were rounded up and whisked away. The day's shoppers never knew what delightful whimsy had filled the store mere hours before.

What do you think Paw Nation? Was this just a fun night out for the cats, or a truly bad advertising idea? Tell us in the comments below.

The last time you saw a cat strum a guitar this good, its last name was Stevens.

When Alaska's owner tries to get her to come inside, she insists that she has better things to do, such as continue to sleep in a cat carrier in the middle of the lawn. Cheeky!

An ordinary traffic stop turned into a media sensation when a friendly feline gamboled onto the scene and started climbing all over police officer Keith Urban -- and it was all caught on police video! The video made the local news on Fox 25 in Boston, Mass.

"I was conducting a traffic stop and here comes the cat prancing up, jumping around in the grass looking at me with a curious look on its face," Urban, 29, tells Paw Nation. "I couldn't help but notice it because it looked like it wanted to play."

Urban attempted to ignore the kitty who was rubbing up against him, but it started climbing up his leg. He disentangled the cat and shooed it away, but it playfully returned. "The cat latched onto my clothes, and it was doing whatever it wanted with me, so I just let it go," laughs Urban. "Before I knew it, it was climbing all over me."

The daring kitty even climbed onto the officer's head! "It didn't scratch me, not even accidentally, so it didn't really bother me," says Urban. "It was actually kind of nice to have a cat rubbing up on top of my head."

And the driver? "He was smiling and giggling a little bit," says Urban. "At one point, he asked me, 'Can I come out and help you out with that and get the cat?' I told him, 'No sir. I appreciate it, but no.'"

Not only is this kitten adorable, he also looks really, really concerned. Is it the economy that has this feline flustered? Or is it that his dad looks like the Japanese Samuel L. Jackson? Don't worry little one, with just a pair of glasses you too can play impersonator and look like famed director Martin Scorsese.

You may be wondering why we're all here. Perhaps we should just come out and say it.

You have a drinking problem.

Cats are supposed to drink out of little bowls; they aren't supposed to drink water they purposely had poured on their heads. And that's why you have to stop. We're here because we care about you.

Sometimes, cats are too hungry to be lazy, and that's when we can get them to show off their fabulous feline brains. In the video above, the owner created a small obstacle course for his cat, who flies through it with ease to get to his reward.

But this isn't the only clever cat out there; check out some others in today's video round-up after the jump.

Ninja cat isn't messing around, just look in his eyes! Somehow, this magical kitty gets closer and closer without moving. We wish we were even half as stealth as Ninja Cat!

A litter of kittens replaces mechanic moles in a live version of the classic carnival game. But don't worry for the cats' cerebral health -- the mallet is doing less whacking and more gentle petting.

Okay, this video is only six seconds long, and yet the lightning speed at which the cat hits the wall will have you clicking Replay for six minutes straight. Whether you're mouth clapped in shock or rolling on the floor laughing (evil!), you'll be compelled to watch this feline's feat of physics over and over.
