Disabled Lion and Dachshund Are the Best of Friends
Bonedigger the lion and Milo the Dachshund have quite the special bond. It was love at first sight after they were introduced when Bonedigger was a cub. John Reinke, a double amputee zookeeper, brought the pair together after he himself bonded with Bonedigger. The lion was born with a metabolic bone disease that left him slightly crippled, something that Reinke could relate to after losing both his legs in a bungee jumping accident. Reinke raised Bonedigger as a cub and has stayed connected to him after his move to the G.W. Exotic Animal Park in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Bonedigger spends almost all of his time with Milo as well as two other Dachshunds, Bullet and Angel. The odd grouping is a sight to be seen as they cuddle, play and share meals together.
