A cat is recovering after being shot through the mouth with an arrow. Police found and rescued the injured feline, bringing it to a veterinarian in Washington City, Utah.

Animal Welfare Services received a call Wednesday morning about a cat seen near Nisson Park with an arrow in its face. Two officers were able to catch the cat and transport it to a veterinary clinic.

"You could tell the cat was in pain," said Dr. Jace King of the Washington County Veterinary Clinic. "It couldn't move because of where the arrow was at."

After initially believing that the cat would have to be euthanized, King decided to remove the arrow after seeing X-ray images of the its placement.

"It came through the nostril, down through the roof of the mouth, through the back of the tongue and then where it came through the neck and exited out through the shoulder," King said.

Appropriately named "Quiver" by the staff at the clinic, the cat has been recovering quickly. However, additional surgery was needed to clear up any possible infection, and to repair the hole in the roof of her mouth.

The clinic hopes that Quiver will mend soon. She will go up for adoption once she receives a clean bill of health.

"She had nine lives," King said. "I think she'll make a full recovery."

Police are now investigating how Quiver ended up with an arrow through her mouth, and suspect it may have been an intentional act.

Are they kidding?????? Of course it was intentional, a very malicious act, and I'm sure it will be repeated by the person who did it.
