Things may not be all candy canes and lollipops up at the North Pole. According to the Associated Press, one of Santa's reindeer attempted an escape during a visit to Colorado.

St. Nick's annual shopping-mall tour brought him to the the Centennial State last week, and a stop at La Riva Mall in Dillon on Thursday. That's where Dasher made his move.

While Santa sat on his big comfy chair listening to a ceaseless line of children asking for things, the reindeer jumped over his enclosure and made a break for it, leading the cops on a wild reindeer chase of which, sadly, video footage has yet to surface.

The animal eventually was found, and authorities used one of the other reindeer to lure the escapee back to captivity. Police have not said which of Santa's crew brought Dasher into custody, but our money's on Blitzen.

They don't usually bring reindeer into a mall. I don't think Santa will do this again.
