Rare Chimaera Fish Caught in Canadathe daily dish
As if goblin sharks weren't horrifying enough, here's another creepy marine animal that looks just like them: the long-nosed chimaera fish. A rare chimaera specimen was recently caught in the waters of Canada's Nunavut territory, according to the CBC.

Nigel Hussey, a University of Windsor researcher, identified the unusual fish.
"Only one of these fish has previously been documented from the Hudson Strait," Hussey says. "Potentially, if we fish deeper ... we could find that's there's actually quite a lot of them there. We just don't know."
Before Hussey identified it correctly, the long-nosed chimaera was mistaken for a goblin shark, perhaps because it resembles that species even more than it does other chimaera species. Hussey said the chimaera is related to sharks and stingrays.
