Fox Steals Golf Balls at Swiss Club

the daily dish More on PawNation: Foxes, Small and Furry, Talented

Most golfers would be infuriated if someone ran onto the field and stole their golf ball in the middle of a game, but at the Verbier Golf Club in Switzerland, folks are showing up to play actually hoping that's what will happen. That's because the thief is an adorable fox who loves to steal golf balls and has become a popular fixture at the club.

Foxy the fox takes to the golf course every day between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., chasing after and catching golfers' balls before running off with them. The golfers loves it.

"People are very interested and many people come in the afternoon to see the animal," the club's director, Thomas Grech, told CNN.

Grech admits that Foxy is disrupting the games, but it doesn't seem to matter because the players love watching the animal's antics.

The only other complication Foxy is causing is the loss of so many expensive golf balls. The club estimates that Foxy has run off with approximately 100 golf balls at this point, and nobody knows where he stashes them.

"We do not know where the balls are," said Grech. "He has a few holes around the golf course. People have looked for them but no chance."

I had a similar experience in Colorado with a coyote. She ran out and picked up my drive, ran about 10 ft. dropped the ball turned and looked at me, squatted and peed on the ball then ran off.
