Dog Finds a Home After 6 Years as a Straythe daily dish
There is a special comfort that comes with returning home after an exhausting journey out in the world. It's a feeling that one hard-luck pup who spent years on the streets now finally gets to experience. According to Daily Mail U.K., Snakebite the Basset Hound mix finally found a home after living as a stray for six years.

Snakebite the dog was a regular fixture on the streets of Elko, Nev., but managed to evade Animal Control during his six years as a stray. Snakebit survived life on the streets thanks to handouts from strangers, especially from the folks by the athletic fields, who offered hot dogs to the stray dog.
Animal Control officer Cindy Danielson tracked Snakebite for those six years, ever since his former owners abandoned him outside a local motel. Danielson had become accustomed to receiving reports on Snakebite's whereabouts, only to find the dog gone each time she arrived where he was reported to have been seen. She and several officers set up treats, cages and other tricks to catch Snakebite, but the street-savvy dog outwitted them all.
Finally, Danielson received a call earlier this month saying that Snakebite and another stray were hanging around outside a nearby elementary school.
"When I got there, I saw both of them being petted and I was like, 'You have to be kidding me!' Finding them there, ready to be picked up, made me feel kind of foolish," Danielson told the Elko Daily Free Press.
"One of the employees told me they were the sweetest dogs. Both of them came right up to me and were licking my hand and wagging their tails. They both allowed me to put leashes on them," she added.
This winning personality helped facilitate Snakebite's adoption shortly after arriving at the shelter. After six years on the streets, he finally has a place to call home. We hope they have hot dogs there.
