Dogs on this planet were intended to eat a diet composed mostly of raw meat. And yes, although change has occurred through the domestication process and we bought into the false concept that our canine companions’ diet should have cereal and its byproducts as its primary ingredient, dogs remain carnivores. Look at your dog’s teeth and tell me how many are flat to grind grain.
As an example, through the Smith Ridge Veterinary Center, where I am medical director, we sell over 3,000 pounds of raw meat diet every month. This is not saying it is appropriate for all dogs, but if a dog likes eating and can acclimate to raw meat diets properly balanced, you are approximating what nature intended them to eat in the first place.
