Firemen are prepared to rescue pets when they respond to a blaze, but a room full of snakes? That is something training doesn't cover. According to the Daily Mail U.K., firefighters responding to a house fire in North Davis, Utah, found a room full of snakes among the flames.

Authorities were faced with dozens of snakes, including six venomous species. One of the reptile occupants was a Gaboon viper, consider to be one of the deadliest snakes in the world. Gaboon vipers have the highest venom yield of any snake, and sport fangs that can grow up to 2 inches long.

"We always have a search team go in to clear the house and make sure there are no humans," fire chief Mark Becraft told the Daily Mail. They came out with an all clear but said that there were numerous snakes caged in the house. They definitely didn't want to handle them.'

Once the blaze was under control and firemen confirmed there were no humans in the home, Animal Care and Control was called in to retrieve the snakes. Ultimately, it was Utah's Division of Wildlife that secured the animals and removed them safely from the property. Even though they risk their lives every day, the firefighters were relieved that dealing with the deadly snakes was not their job.

Aside from the Gaboon viper, several albino Western diamondbacks also were found, along with several other species of snakes. It is illegal in Utah to own venomous snakes, so the owner of the home may face charges. Authorities believe that the owner is a snake breeder, since all the animals were in good health and kept in pristine conditions. The Gaboon viper is being held by the Division of Wildlife, while a local animal rescue center is rehabilitating the diamondbacks. The other 22 non-venomous snakes recovered from the fire will be returned to their owner.

I was in law in forcement for 20 years. Just when you think you have seen it all something else beats the last! I am sure the same with fire fighters!
Had I gone in this house as a 1st responder I would have ran as fast as I could out that door! LOL

The Gaboon Viper and the Diamondback Rattlers will most likely become the newest aides to John Boehner.

How is it this home owner had these venomous snakes in his home at all? And, the city is going to give him back his 22 non-venomous snakes. Are you kidding me? 22 snakes in one home isn't good for the snakes. And, this guy needs to do jail time for breaking the law. How can his snakes be returned to him if he's in jail? Do ya think he's going to stop breeding or selling venomous snakes? There's a lot of issues here that aren't right. Protect these snakes & keep this guy in jail! The snakes are living beings & don't deserve to suffer because of some stupid egg head. In Utah of all places ~ go figure!!!

I don't care what anyone thinks, snakes scare the you know what out of me! If you have ever
had a close call of being bit by a snake you would know what I mean. My brother use to
have snakes that he sold at flea markets, & I would not go into my mom's house,
because they were in there. I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!

Too bad so many of the posters on this thread are too ignorant and clearly sexually repressed because those with a fear of snakes usually have sexual issues. Snakes are just one of the many varieties of creatures that God created to inhabit this earth. If you have issues with snakes, then leave them alone and they'll leave YOU alone. Pathetic people who automatically want to kill what they don't understand. How would YOU like it if someone killed YOU because they didn't understand or appreciate your ignorance?

Why all the hate for a species that is way more successful than we can ever hope to be? They are some of the most complex unique types of land creature to span through virtually every prehistoric period and still thrive despite bigots and worthless ignorant opinions based on stories from subday schol of talking snakes and apples. No wonder scientology has become so financially succesful... People really are stupid enough to buy inti anything that promises what they want to hear!

Dogs kill exponentially more people than snakes. I have always had snakes since a kid, they can be fascinating pets and anyone with experience can tell you that they develop respect and actually are perfect pets for those conditions provided the owner maintains them. I have never met a person who still thought so biased against one of the most unique and misunderstood creatures on earth. They eat between once a week and once a month, they are attracted to body heat and generally not aggressive if captive bred so it creates a bond and they literally have the most exotic patterns and colors anywhere, manmade or natural. Stop the hate and learn something- the bible is not a book of fact its a book of stories like alice in wonderland, dont be sucked into the hype created by people who know nothing about what they hate thats the definition of a bigot and ignorance. Btw no snake on earth atacks people they all defend against you people that think killing snakes is cool. They are fighting for their life and i hope they beat every one of you who kills out of a fear based on ignorance. Theres a reason people love zoos and reptile houses, dont evolve backwards and return our species to a fear derived state of consant hysteria based upon heresay.

There is something wrong with people with no compassionfor the very essence of life and all the species that bring it together to form a virtually perfectly balanced system... Until people like you came along to criticize people for a love of things you know nothing about beyond a terrible movies completely falsified 'facts' do you get your knowledge about sharks and tornado relationship from sharknado too?

. Dogs kill more than snakes. People kill more than anything perhaps we should let people who are indifferent of other living things becomethe result of a similar indifference to life you display?
