Dog Almost Causes Tour de France Catastrophethe daily dish
A dog with bad timing nearly caused a catastrophic pileup during the second leg of the Tour de France, according to Deadspin.
Less than 3 miles from the finish line, a dog ran away from its spectator owner and into the middle of the road. As cyclists racing at 50 miles per hour closed in, the dog froze for a moment before turning back toward safety.

Unfortunately, the dog's owner was already sprinting out into the road to retrieve the pooch, which only served to spook the animal back into the path of the peloton.
For a few heart-stopping moments, it looked like curtains for the dog and the racers alike, but with luck and agility, the dog and its owner managed to dart in opposite directions out of the way of danger, and all the riders remained safely upright.
