Move aside, Tiger Woods. There's a new animal on the green. According to the Daily Mail U.K., a three-legged alligator waddled into the Zurich Classic golf tournament in New Orleans.
The uninvited guest stole the show, entering the middle of the course and taking in the scene as onlookers snapped photos.
The alligator was so comfortable with the attention and lush new digs that he decided to settle in the middle of the fairway and let the players golf around him.
Eventually, after coming through the rough and taking a rest, the animal decided to leave the athletes to it and exited the course through a bunker.
Players were not too shocked by the sighting, since several gators made appearances throughout the tournament.
Louisiana has the largest population of alligators in the United States, so catching the animals on the lush lawns of a golf course is not uncommon.
If given space, most gators will not bother humans. We are not their favorite food to munch on, so gator attacks are rare unless they are provoked. In this case, gator and man were able to enjoy golf side by side, without any issue.
As a Gator Golf commercial once asked, "What could be greater than golf with a gator?" While all the human players may not agree, the visit from this three-legged fan certainly made the game more interesting.
