Boydy the dog's loyalty to his owner is more than just heartwarming - it was lifesaving. Herbert Schutz, 76, was pinned beneath his truck for four days after crashing into a tree on his farm, according to the Daily Mail U.K. But Boydy, his Australian Kelpie, kept Schutz warm throughout the ordeal.

After Schutz crashed his car into a tree on his farm in New South Wales, Australia, he almost managed to escape, but the vehicle fell on top of him, trapping him.

Schutz's animals kept him company while he remained trapped. Boydy stayed with Schutz, keeping the man warm at night when temperatures neared freezing. His horses also came to Schutz, but accidentally worsened the situation by trampling on the car.

After four days and three nights, Schutz's daughter grew concerned because she was unable to contact her father. She called his neighbors and asked them to check on him, which they did immediately. As they approached, Boydy ran around the front of the car, alerting them.

The rescuers, Julian Barrett and Eric Merritt, say Schutz was covered with dog hair when they found him, and they knew the faithful dog had stuck by his owner and kept him warm.

"Even when we found him, the dog ran straight to his side and cuddled up to him. He didn't want to leave him even then," Merritt said.

People don't usually think of cats as being as loyal to their owners like dogs but I am here to tell you my cat Spike was a amazing cat. He started suffering from renal failure the last few years of his life. He had to have IV fluids given to him twice on a daily basis. He almost died several times during his last two years but he kept using those nine lives. My Vet was just as impressed with him as I was. He told that he thought the reason Spike kept hanging on was simply because of me, he knew that I was not ready for him to leave me.He was right.. finally as Spike got sicker and his quality of life was not good, I sat down on the sofa with Spike and I told him it was ok to go, this of course happened on Halloween night(perfect) for a cat. His breathing kept getting more shallow and his passed that night. He was a tough guy and such a sweet caring guy. I was devastated when he passed but i was glad he was longer suffering. I Still miss him so much. RIP my little buddy.

How many selfish humans would do something like this for their fellow man? I'd be willing to bet that not as many humans would do this compared to an animal. I myself would lay down my life for an animal a hell of a lot quicker than I would for MOST humans!

Good dog, Boydy, good dog. This is why I love animals so much. No such thing as an ugly animal in my eyes. They're all innocent and beautiful.
