A residential neighborhood in the city of Glendale, Calif., had a scare over the weekend when homeowners came face-to-face with a 120-pound mountain lion in their yards. John Yankosky said he was watching TV when his dog, Max, saw the mountain lion outside and began barking at it through the window. The poor mountain lion is believed to have come down from the dry hills surrounding the area in search of water, but it ended up leading authorities from yard to yard on a wild goose chase. The mountain lion eventually hid under Yankosky's patio, where it took a small squadron of firefighters and animal control officers to tranquilize the animal and remove it from the premises. "It looked like we might have to tear my deck out to get him at one point," Yankosky said. The cat was returned to the wild.
