Squid Found With a Live Bomb Inside It

A fishmonger in Guangdong, China, received a big surprise when he found a live bomb inside a squid he was gutting, reports the New York Daily News.

The fishmonger, Mr. Huang, was cutting up a 3-foot-long squid in a Guangdong fish market when his knife hit something hard and metallic. The object turned out to be a live explosive device.

"Perhaps he thought the bomb was his favorite food and gulped it down," Huang told the Guangzhou Daily newspaper. "He certainly had a big belly when he was caught."

Huang contacted police immediately to take the old and rusty - but still operational - bomb away. It was later detonated safely in a controlled explosion.

The age and origin of the bomb are a mystery, but authorities have speculated that it might have been dropped by a fighter jet.

In its report, the Guanzhou Daily reminded readers to always contact police if they find an explosive device in their food. Pretty good advice.
