RAVISHING RHINO

A southern white rhino baby was born at the Australia Zoo on Feb. 7. The newborn is a female, and is making great progress. Too cute!

PARTY LIKE AN ALPACA

Alpaca farmer Bernd Funke is pictured surrounded by adorable female alpacas at the Alpaca Park in Arendsee, Germany. Funke and his wife have been breeding alpacas since 2005. 

SWIM TO FREEDOM

Two seal pups who were stranded last summer are seen being released into the North Sea by the Sea Life Center of Blankenberge. We wish them the best!

GRASS IS FOR ZEBRAS

At the Dusit Zoo in Bangkok, Thailand, a pair of zebras stand close to each other as they munch on some grass. 

BIKER CHIMP

In Thailand, a Dusit Zoo staff member rides on a bike with Ooh-ouu, a male chimpanzee at the zoo in Bangkok. Looks like fun!

KITTY MAP

The zoo in London is taking stock of the British capital's domestic cats. It is going to be their first interactive map and will allow Londoners to upload descriptions and locations of their cats. This will create a capital-wide census of the city's felines. 

BALI STARLINGS FOREVER

At one point, there were only six beautiful Bali starlings left in the wild. However, the future is now beginning to look brighter for one of the world's rarest birds.The Act for Wildlife team has released eight back into the wild in central Bali. Now that's what we're talking about!

NOWHERE I'D RATHER BE

In the Czech Republic, a female orangutan, Mawar, holds her baby in her arms at the Prague Zoo. This is the first baby orangutan born in Prague in 42 years. 

POSING PUP

READY, SET, POUNCE

In Illinois at the Brookfield Zoo, Max, a stunning two-year-old Amur tiger, gets ready to pounce on a snowman his keepers made for him. The delicious snowman featured meat for eyes and buttons, and bones for feet. Yum!

BEAUTIFUL BEAGLES FOR ADOPTION

These adorable Beagles were rescued last week after many years as laboratory animals. Now they're at the Beagle Freedom Project facility in Los Angeles, and will eventually be put up for adoption. We would love to take them all home!

CLASSY CALF

Yasna, a female addax calf, stands pretty in a grassy spot filled with flowers at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Australia. Her African name means "white rose." Suits her perfectly, don't you think?

SECOND NATURE

A baby giant otter is beginning to learn how to swim at the Chester Zoo in the U.K. We're sure you'll do just fine, little fella!

HUMMER FLUTTERS

A striking hummingbird is pictured fluttering its wings at the HSBC Women's Championship, a golf tournament at the Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.

EAGLE CAM

A bald eagle known as K01 gets ready for a landing on its nest near Avalon on Catalina Island, off the coast of Southern California. The Pet Collective, a YouTube channel, has a camera on K01, which gives viewers spectacular footage of the 13-year-old male eagle. How very cool!

THE START OF SOMETHING NEW

Donna, a female Indian elephant, watches over her baby at the Prague Zoo in the Czech Republic. This baby elephant happens to be the first elephant born at the Prague Zoo in its history. 

PENGUIN PERFECTION

This adorable penguin chick hatched at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio on Valentine's Day. Penguin parents Secunda and Watson are doing a fabulous job raising their little chick.

On Christmas Eve 2012, two little emperor tamarin twins were born at the Banham Zoo in England. The little ones are starting to explore and venture away from their family. How adorable is this cutie?

A tiny mouse deer was born at the Berlin Zoo on Valentine's Day. The very small creature can fit perfectly in one hand and is the smallest hoofed mammal in the world. This baby will grow to about 5 pounds.

At the Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Australia, a saltwater crocodile receives a checkup from a veterinarian. The little guy is fit and healthy!

An adorable rescued Guadalupe fur seal at SeaWorld in San Diego looks precious as he passes by animal rescue team members.

At the Point Defiance Zoo in Washington, growing tiger cubs have some fun playing in the water together. They each weigh about 70 pounds, and are more frisky and playful than ever.

Two very adorable koala joys rest up at the Taronga Zoo in Australia. Too cute for words!

WHERE'S THE SPOTLIGHT?

This alligator, photographed at Zoo Miami, is part of a traveling National Geographic exhibit called Crittercam. As part of the exhibit, which runs until May 5, you can see footage of leopard seals hunting, emperor penguins soaring, a lioness tending to her cubs and more. Very cool!

BIG AND BEAUTIFUL

A 5-year-old bull named Chabal is the heaviest animal to attend the International Agriculture Fair of Paris. This gorgeous beast weighs more than 3,000 pounds. Thousands of animals and people are attending the fair, which runs from Feb. 23 to March 3. 

THAT'S THE SPOT

A newborn giraffe receives a lick from his mother, Aja Sabe, at the zoo in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The youngster was born last Thursday. Precious!

At the Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark, a newborn elephant baby was born early this morning.

SWEETHEART JACKSON

A 42-year-old chimpanzee named Jackson has been deemed "one of the sweetest chimps I've ever met" by his previous keeper. He is loving his great life at the Oregon Zoo, and is fitting in well with the troop.

BRAVE BRIN

Brin the dog poses for a photo call for the finalists who are competing for the Crufts Friends For Life award in Green Park, London. Brin had saved the lives of two soldiers in Afghanistan. Good going, Brin!

BEAVER CHOMPS

At the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, a beaver enjoys the breakfast of champions: a nice, juicy stick!

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

A precious baby gorilla born in Texas has just made a cross-country trip on a private plane to her new home at the Cincinnati Zoo in Ohio. The little one did very well on the plane and never left her keeper's arms. What a cutie!

PRECIOUS PENGUINS

In Connecticut's Mystic Aquarium, two African penguin chicks have hatched. The youngsters currently weigh around 696 grams and 281 grams, and will be named when they're fully feathered and their gender determined. 

BATHE ME, BEAUTIFUL

A peaceful elephant is bathed in Colombo, Sri Lanka, at a public park. It sure looks like this big beauty is enjoying his cleanse.

COTTON-TOP CUTIES

At the Perth Zoo in Australia, two cotton-top tamarins are pictured out and about in their habitat. Unfortunately, cotton-top tamarins are critically endangered due to illegal pet trade and habitat destruction.

WHO ARE YOU CALLIN' TIMON?

A lovely meerkat family is pictured being curious and cute at the Point Defiance Zoo in Washington. Seriously, could they be any cuter?

TRUFFLES, ANYONE?

In Hannover, Germany, a truffle-sniffing pooch is put to work by mushroom expert Fabian Sievers. The two scour for truffles in the woods regularly, with much success. 

HAPPY AND HEALTHY

Adorable Andean bear cubs had their very first vet exam today at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C. The cubs' genders were previously undefined, but now they have been determined to be one male and one female, and both in excellent health. Hooray!

LEAF IT TO ME

A frisky squirrel climbs up a tree with leaves in its mouth, which the little guy subsequently put into an abandoned bird house at New York's Union Square Park. Maybe he's expecting a family. Too cute!
