CHARLIE SHEEN DONATES $10,000 FOR A THERAPY DOG
Charlie Sheen doesn’t always generate the best press for himself, but this time the star has done a kindness that no one could find fault with. Sheen has donated $10,000 to provide a therapy dog for a teenager who suffered a spinal injury in a disastrous fall. Teagan Marti, 15, endured devastating injuries when she fell from a theme-park ride in 2010. Through a family connection, her parents have reached out to Sheen to ask for financial assistance, requesting $6,000 in aid to provide the teen with an assistance animal. The generous actor gave almost twice as much as they asked, and offered to help out with more if necessary. (Fox News) -
KE$HA TO RECEIVE HUMANE SOCIETY AWARD
Love or hate her music (we love it), Ke$ha has few peers who work as hard as she does to promote animal-rights issues, and now she’s being recognized for it. Next month, the pop star will receive the Wyler Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by the Humane Society of the United States. The HSUS is bestowing the award to Ke$ha for her efforts to bring attention to trophy hunting of endangered lions, shark finning, seal slaughter, dog fighting, cruelty-free cosmetics and other animal-welfare issues. BOB BARKER SUCCESSFULLY OPPOSES WYOMING BILL PROTECTING ANIMAL ABUSERS
When the state of Wyoming proposed a bill that sought to protect those in the agriculture industry from punishment for animal cruelty, famous animal activist Bob Barker flew into action. The former “The Price Is Right” host, who spent years imploring us to control the pet population by spaying and neutering our pets, publically denounced the bill. Good news! Barker’s word still carries some weight. The ridiculous bill was given a big thumbs-down this week. Thanks, Bob! (Teddy Hilton) -
PARKER POSEY ATTENDS WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW
People who love dog shows as well as the movie that satirizes them (“Best in Show”) got a special treat last week when one of the movie’s stars, Parker Posey, made an appearance at the Westminster Dog Show. Posey visited several of the contestants, and was much better behaved than her “Best in Show” character. Posey’s appearance at the prestigious dog show proves you can poke good-natured fun at something and still truly love it at the same time. (Buzzfeed) -

JOAQUIN PHOENIX APPEARS IN NEW PRO-FISH PETA COMMERCIAL
The plight of fish is often overlooked even by those concerned with animal welfare, but Joaquin Phoenix isn’t overlooking it. Phoenix recently made an ad for PETA to speak out against cruelty to fish. The ad, which doesn’t depict any fish, shows Phoenix underwater, simulating drowning to illustrate the suffering fish experience when removed from their habitat. “Try to relate,” Phoenix says in voice-over narration. This is the latest animal-rights message Phoenix has worked with PETA to deliver. The actor is a longtime animal activist and vegan. (Ecorazzi) -
RIHANNA IS LOOKING FOR SOME BEAUTIFUL FEMALE DOGS
Rihanna recently used her Instagram addiction to share a terrific shot of two majestic-looking dogs. “Where my bitches @ ????” the pop singer wrote in the photo’s caption — not being rude, as her use of the b-word in this case is technically referring to the female dogs. No word on whether the dogs belong to RiRi, her boyfriend Chris Brown, or someone else entirely. In any case, they’re beautiful animals! (Instagram) -

LEA MICHELE SPEAKS OUT AGAINST HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES
Actress Lea Michele of “Glee” fame is not romantically dazzled by horse-drawn carriage rides, and now she’s speaking out publicly against them. The carriage rides have been an issue with animal activists for years, so Michele is asking her fans to think twice about them. “The one thing I find the least romantic is taking a horse and carriage ride,” Michele said. “I can’t express enough how unhappy these horses are and how much pain and suffering they go through each day.” (Ecorazzi)

She has refused invitations to tour the stables and meet the horses and drivers in person - gee, I wonder why... And wasn't she in a movie that prominently featured NYC horses and carriages? Like Alec Baldwin, she's a hypocrite and happy in her willful ignorance, jumping on a bandwagon and talking about something she obviously knows NOTHING about.

Furthermore last I heard from Ms.Micelle she was crying that if horses did not leave NYC she was never coming back. Clearly that was a lie
