Rodents often get a bad rap, but these little critters have as much love to give as other animals. Buzzfeed is currently displaying an adorable example of this unusual affection: a squirrel getting cozy with his new teddy bear pal.
-
Photographer Betsy Seeton caught this precious moment between a golden-mantled ground squirrel and a stuffed bear that Seeton set out in her yard. Like a true gentleman, this squirrel didn't come on strong, instead he approached the beautiful stranger cautiously at first.
-
The polite bachelor is a frequent visitor to Seeton's yard, and she has named him Jasper. After a few moments of idle chit-chat, Jasper got a little bolder with his cuddle bear approach.
-
"Watching him examine the toy was like watching a toddler meeting a new friend...It is always fun to watch Jasper, and all the other squirrels and chipmunks that visit our home, playing and learning," Seeton said.

Finally Jasper made his big move, planting a sweet kiss on his new furry friend. Hopefully this teddy can see that Jasper is a real stand-up squirrel.

I'm the photographer and this is a golden-mantled ground squirrel. Chipmunks have stripes all the way up their face clear to their nose, whereas ground squirrels don't. Chipmunks are considerably smaller. This was shot in the Colorado Rocky Mountains at 10,000 foot elevation where 'Jasper' makes his home. I wasn't in control of the story!! Chipmunks have stripes all the way up to their nose. Ground squirrels will never have stripes on their face. Chipmunks are considerably smaller too.
