The polite bachelor is a frequent visitor to Seeton's yard, and she has named him Jasper. After a few moments of idle chit-chat, Jasper got a little bolder with his cuddle bear approach.
I'm the photographer and this is a golden-mantled ground squirrel. Chipmunks have stripes all the way up their face clear to their nose, whereas ground squirrels don't. Chipmunks are considerably smaller. This was shot in the Colorado Rocky Mountains at 10,000 foot elevation where 'Jasper' makes his home. For more photos of these adorable critters with chipmunks too: http://www.livehonestly.com/chippy-and-the-crew.html and http://www.gettingintouchwithnature.com/
I'm the photographer, Betsy Seeton, and this is a golden-mantled ground squirrel in Colorado living at 10,000 elevation in the Rocky Mountains. I wasn't in control of the story!! Chipmunks have stripes all the way up to their nose. Ground squirrels will never have stripes on their face. Chipmunks are considerably smaller too. gone viral chipmunk sha
It's a ground squirrel. They look like chipmunks but the are bigger.
That is the BEST. I have feeders in my yard and love to watch my outside animals play. Free entertainment!
Cute, story is entertaining as well.....to bad the author can't tell the difference between a squirrel and a chipmunk.
As clearly seen by the picture you don't kiss by using your chainsaw teeth!
Not unless you're Hannibal Lecter!
We have 5-6 chipmunks come to our yard in the spring / summer / fall. I will have to put a doll out, and see if it gets a "warm reception"!
Its a CHIPMUNK...not a squirrel. That is sooooooo cute!
