Forget apples, a sheepdog a day keeps the doctor away — at least, that's one man's theory. According to Telegraph, Cees Bol and his partner Hanneke van de Watering post a new amusing picture of their sheepdogs Sophie and Sarah each day online.
-
The adorable shots capture the pooches frolicking through a variety of situations in the small Dutch village of Sibculo.
-
Sophie, 4, and Sara, 2, are the main stars of the snapshots, but Sophie's brother Maestro also makes occasional appearances, along with other sheepdogs belonging to Bol's friends.
-
The daily photos range from silly to scenic, with the dogs' owners making use of their village's beautiful landscapes.
-
Both of the paw stars are extremely tolerant when it comes to costumes, even if the look gives them a bad rap.
-
"Sophie and Sarah are happy dogs and you can see that in the pictures. People love to watch their adventures and sometimes they are following them for years," Bol shared. "We do our best to put a smile or an awww on people's faces."
-
Bol has been doing a pawesome job. The owner admitted that he often receives letters from fans of his furry friends, saying how much they look forward to his daily photos. Some even mention that Bol's pooch portrait page is their go-to place for a quick pick-me-up.
-
"We live in the east part of the Netherlands, close to the German border. With lots of forests in the neighborhood and the turn of seasons, there is always time for a good walk in the neighborhood," Bol explained. "We make long walks and take them often with us when we go out. We also organize walks at different times of the year with other Old English Sheepdog lovers or we meet up with friends."
-
While the photos always look fabulous, Bol says much of the credit should go to his dogs.
-
Sara and Sophie are so used to being models that they happily strike poses on their own, without any direction from Dad.
-
Many assume that these stunning and obedient Sheepdogs must be former show dogs, but Bol says he keeps and cares for Sophie and Sara just for fun and inspiration.
-
"We don't breed and do not show them, we keep them just for fun. They listen very good and know what to do and often pose already before I say something. We form a good team," Bol explained.
-
One would think that after people see these shots, the popularity of these super fuzzy canines would skyrocket, but the breed is actually in danger.
-
The Old English Sheepdog has been put on the AKC's list of endangered dog breeds, because only 316 Sheepdog puppies were registered with the AKC last year.

Professionals think the decline is due the increasing popularity of handbag dogs. Hopefully, Sophie and Sara prove that pups don't need to fit in your purse to be adorable and entertaining pets.

I had an English Sheepdog for 12 joyful years. They are fur covered clowns. I named mine Mud Monster Molly and seeing these photos reminds me of their fondness for mud. There personalities are just as beautiful as they are on the outside.

The photo of the two dogs wrestling with a cloudy background is very beautiful. The owner must have become quite a good photographer over time....
