LEONARDO DICAPRIO HELPS THE LIONS

Leonardo DiCaprio is taking a break from film to save one of the stars of the wild. The actor is working with the International Fund for Animal Welfare to put an end to lion hunting. DiCaprio asked his Facebook fans to join him in the fight, telling them to send a personal note to U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Kenneth Salazar. The actor and environmentalist hopes to get lions on the endangered species list, so they will have stronger protection against poachers. (Ecorazzi)

KRISTEN BELL'S DOG COZIES UP TO BABY BUMP

After a busy week of Golden Globe parties and TV appearances, pregnant actress Kristen Bell took a break with her pup. Bell tweeted out a picture of her adorable dog resting its head on her baby bump. Earlier in the month, the actress shared a pic of her other dog sleeping on her pregnancy pillow. Looks like all the animal members of the house are eager for the baby to come. (WhoSay)

DIERKS BENTLEY FINDS HIS MISSING DOG

Good news came for country star Dierks Bentley. The animal lover was reunited with his dog who went missing during a severe thunderstorm. Jake the dog jumped the fence out of fear of the thunder, running off into the night. Dierks immediately tweeted out a call for help, which was shared by thousands. After an all-night search, Jake was found in the early morning by someone in the area, and dropped off safe and sound back at home. (The Boot)

ZOOEY DESCHANEL HANGS WITH CATS ON SET

The new girl is turning into a cat lady. Zooey Deschanel was spotted filming a scene for her hit show “New Girl” with a posse of furry co-stars. Look out for Deschanel and these cat actors in episodes to come. (Teddy Hilton)

MICHELLE AND BO OBAMA SURPRISE TOURISTS

Best White House tour ever! A group of lucky tourists were treated to a special surprise when first lady Michelle Obama and first dog Bo dropped in on the group. The tour group looking at the head honcho’s place the day after the inauguration were treated to an unexpected meet-and-greet with the first lady and Bo in the Blue Room. This is not the first time the adorable pair has done this, since both love surprises. (USA Today)

TEEN MOM LOSES DOGS IN MAULING

“Teen Mom 2”, an MTV show following the struggles of young women with babies, caught an unexpected tragedy. One of the featured cast members, Chelsea Houska, lost her French Bulldog, Frankie, in a mauling incident. Houska let the dog out off his leash to do his business, and lost track of the pup. Sadly, when she found him, Frankie was involved in an altercation with a larger dog that ultimately took Frankie’s life. Hopefully, the incident will be a reminder to dog owners of the importance of keeping their dogs leashed and in their field of vision. (Dogster)

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS DEDICATE CONCERTS TO HELP MARINE ANIMALS

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are deciding to give back. The group, which is performing at Australia’s Big Day Out festival, is dedicating their shows to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. The SSCS is dedicated to helping and protecting marine life around the globe. The band has been a longtime supporter of the society’s work, often attending their fundraisers. (Sea Shepherd)
