Harvey the cat has not let his lack of leg bones prevent him from getting back on his feet. According to the Daily Mail U.K., the adorable kitten, born missing bones in his front legs, has learned how to walk on his elbows.
-
It may look uncomfortable for Harvey, but the baby cat is happy to get around in this manner, teaching himself his unusual walk.
-
The four-month-old cat suffers from a rare condition called radial agenesis. As a result, Harvey is missing two of the bones that connect his paws to the upper part of his front legs.
-
The rescue kitty's enduring strength and adaptability have earned him oodles of fans. The animal charity Cats Protection is paying for surgery to help Harvey with money donated by the kitten's admirers.
-
It only took two days to raise the needed cash, thanks to a Facebook post calling out to all cat lovers for help. The operation paid for by the do-gooders will put metal pins in to substitute for the missing bones in Harvey's legs.
-
Harvey was born into a home with an indifferent owner. Spotting the kitten's disability, the cat's former caretaker quickly put Harvey up for sale online.
-
Luckily, this special feline was found on the Web, purchased and put into the care of Cats Protection and a kind foster home with a veteran cat caretaker.
-
"Because Harvey was born that way, he doesn’t know there’s anything wrong with him, so he runs around on his elbows and happily plays with my other cat and dog," Liz McCulloch, Harvey's foster mom, told Daily Mail. "He’s OK at the moment but if he doesn’t get the operation he’ll start to damage his spine when he gets bigger."
-
When Cats Protection first received Harvey, they figured the cat was suffering from dislocated bones. An X-ray quickly revealed the kitty's true troubles.
-
Wanting the best for their newest furry guest, Cats Protection raised over $4,000 to pay for Harvey's corrective surgery.
-
This feline fighter will go under the knife once he is six months old. Doctors want to allow time for Harvey's bones to grow and strengthen, so they can support the pressure of the metal pins being used.

Actually Cats walk on their toes so this cat is walking on his heels.
January 25 2013 at 5:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow...I have a rescue cat with the exact same problem. Haven't seen another cat like him before. "Travis" gets around fine with his "disability" and can even jump up on the chair, etc.
