Google Street View's Accidental Animals

Next month, Google Maps will celebrate 8 years of helping us get through the day, street by street, turn by turn. Thanks to its innovative and incredible street view option, Google has also given us the ability to travel to places we might never actually physically set foot on. For those of you who have spent hours perusing through random cities of the world, you may have seen one or two of its animal inhabitants every now and then. According to Petslady, there are countless creatures who have made their photographic mark on Google street view. Check it out.

    COLORADO CAT CROSSING

Boulder, Colorado, may not be the first city to come to mind when you think of wild tigers, but according to this street view photo, there was one on the loose in the middle of a shopping center. Well, sort of. The exotic animal wasn't actually real, but from this point of view, we were totally fooled. Turns out this faux beast is just made of fiberglass, though were sure it still shocked drivers. We're not sure if it boosted or decreased sales from the DecorAsian furnishings store that placed it in its parking lot.

    REINDEER ON THE RUN

A reindeer decided to go for a run down the Rv888 highway in Finmark at the same time Google's camera was recording the northern Norway region. Keep up the pace, buddy — you're doing great!

    OSTRICH CHECKPOINT

Cars trying to make their way down the road must first stop at the ostrich checkpoint, according to this Google street view snapshot. An ostrich is seen bending over and sticking its head into a window, probably asking for their $2 toll.

    NOT TO SLY BREAK-IN

Foxes are famous for their cunning and crafty ways, but this furry creature was not living up to his species' reputation. Google caught the fluffy-tailed fox trying to break into a second floor room of a home in Narva, Estonia. Oops! His bad.

    DONKEY DOWN

This particular photo is not as awesome as the others as it captures a donkey during one of its most embarrassing moments, which will forever be immortalized by Google Maps. However, Google has assured us all that the donkey is alive and well.

I can 100% solve the mystery of the Cat photo because this was my "cat" and taken in front of my store (DecorAsian) in Boulder, CO (See the Flatirons in the background) at 3148 Valmont Road. It was taken probably in 2006 or so as we closed that location in late 2006 I think it was.

In any event, it is a life-sized plastic tiger (if you look close you can see its missing its tail) that I bought in Thailand on a buying trip . I used to haul the damn thing out there every day until it got stolen. I had another one that I put in front of our store in Denver when we opened up there in 2009. Sadly, it too was stolen....Just a couple of months ago...I have one more but he is in bad shape....If any one wants to buy it, contact me thru www.decorasianstyle.com.

THE WORD OF THE WEST

There are tons of deer all over Boulder. Cougars (mountain lions) feed on deer. The more deer there are, the more baby mountain lions are born. So, this is just part of nature; cougars hunting deer.

This is funny....This photo does not depict a cougar....It is a lifesized plastic tiger that I USED TO HAVE in front of my store, DecorAsian, inc. (Now Eurasian Interiors, In Denver) until it was stolen. Gosh, that would have been taken 2006 or 2007. Funny thing is we had another one and I put it out in front of our Denver Store. After almost 4 years, he too was stolen...

Not a mouse. Not a moose, either. It's a reindeer. Moose don't have that type of antlers.
