Florida Governor Returned Adopted Campaign Dog After Winning

Politics has literally gone to the dogs, and it is getting dirty. According to the Daily Mail U.K., Florida governor Rick Scott gave the rescue dog he adopted during the 2010 election back after he was inaugurated.

Scott adopted the dog shortly after receiving the GOP nomination for governor. Pictures of the canine were posted to Scott's Facebook campaign page, asking readers to help the candidate name his new family member. "Reagan" was chosen for the pooch from the names submitted, as a honor to the 40th President of the United States.

The governor's choice to adopt a rescue dog was applauded by many, including those angry with Obama for buying Bo, a purebred Portuguese Water Hound. Reagan was seen by his owner's side throughout the campaign, but disappeared after Scott's inauguration.

Curious about Reagan's absence, reporters from the Tampa Bay Times looked into the dog's whereabouts. They found that no recent photos of Reagan had been taken, and that all pictures of the dog that appeared on Scott's campaign website had been removed.

Reporters reached out to several members of Scott's staff looking for answers, but no one was willing to confess where Reagan was currently. Finally, the Times comforted the governor himself about the issue.

Scott told reporters that the dog "scared the living daylights" out of everyone at his home. He went on to explain that Reagan would bark loudly at anyone approaching the house, and that due to this temperament, the family decided to return the dog to her previous owner shortly after he was elected.

Many supporters are understandably disappointed with Scott's treatment of Reagan. Democrat or Republican, this story is a reminder to everyone that all animals have their own personalities, and that adopting a pet is long-term commitment for which potential owners must be prepared.

Rick Scott should have adopted a pig - like himself. Hopefully, Reagan will find a loving home and an owner who understands the meaning of commitment.

Anyone who'd treat a rescue dog (or any pet) like this has no soul and doesn't belong in politics.

What a loser. We adopted a rescue dog when she was an abused puppy. We named her Katie; she was so traumatized that she didn't bark once for over a year. She's 7 1/2 now and seems to have forgotten the first few months of her life; she is a happy, healthy and loving dog.

Wonder what else he is tampering with in your state? ASK FOR EMPEACHMENT OR RECALL...some people voted on the value of him adopting...what a disgusting piece of poop!

He could have taken the dog to obidence training. Ihope he is out of office when I retire to Florida. Didn't like his politics anyway. Did he return the dog to a rescue or a KILL SHELTER?

RICK SCOTT IS A BEADY EYED WEASEL! WORST THIG TO EVER HAPPEN TO FLORIDA! THE DOG IS PROBABLY HAPPIER AT THE SHELTER. WHAT AN ASS.

Worse yet, it's difficult to get rid of scum like this when the Republican/Karl Rove party has the system so rigged so that they keep putting them back in positions of power. Between the rigged voting machines and voter disenfranchisement, they're always pretty much assured of keeping their positions of power and advancing their agenda of theft and greed.
