World's Loudest Cat Can Purr as Loud as a Lion's Roar

Come on, get happy! Merlin the cat has no trouble expressing how he feels. According to the Metro U.K., Merlin has a purr that should earn him a place in the record books.
Merlin's owner, Tracy Westwood, believes that the 12-year-old rescue cat has the loudest kitty purr in the world. Merlin normally lets out purrs that reach an impressive 100 decibels, while typical house cats only purr around 25 decibels.
A purr of this magnitude is comparable to a classroom of children, a subway train or the sound of a car horn 25 feet away.
"We've measured Merlin at peaks of 100dB, but he can be louder than that," Westwood told Metro U.K.
If Merlin can produce these noises for a Guinness World Records official, he will unseat the current loudest purr title holder, Smokey. Smokey is in the books for having a purr of 92 decibels.
Sound experts suggest that Westwood watches how much time she spends with her furry champ, because prolonged exposure to sounds greater than 95 decibels can lead to hearing loss.

More like, Merlin probably thinks she's deaf already, if he needs to purr at 100 decibels! Cats will purr loudest to their hearing impaired friends...
