Visitors at the Hangzhou Zoo in China last week must have been overcome with cruel intentions when they decided to pelt the zoo's African lions viciously with snowballs, according to the Daily Mail UK.

The incident started with one person, laughing as he began throwing snowballs at the clearly frightened and angry lions, who tried to take cover.

Mob mentality quickly took over, as more zoo-goers — including children — joined in on the "fun."

A few of the people clearly were using full force to launch large chunks of snow and ice at the lions.

The distressed lions desperately tried to dodge the snowballs and take cover, eyeing their cowardly tormentors.

The male lion roared in anger as the attackers eventually drew away from the lion enclosure. But the cruelty of the afternoon wasn't over.

After the incident with the lions, the people simply made their way throughout the zoo to continue throwing snowballs at other animals, including alpacas, giraffes, monkeys, a tiger and more.

A zookeeper, Zhu Yan, said staff members were preoccupied with clearing snow and ice at the time, and were angered upon learning of the incident, according to CNC World News.

The zoo's Vice Director, Wang Hongbo, said, "We feel hurt by what these people did. But we can’t punish them, after all, we are not law-enforcers."

It's no wonder we come to loathe certain nationalities. These bastards should have been tossed into the den after raw meat was tied to them. Laugh at that you slanted eye douche bags!

Is is low-no self esteem? You're so stupid you don't even get do you? STUPID. I'm actually laughing @ you 'cuz you really are. Hey Stupid BOO!

Those patrons are more animals than all of that zoo! China is rapidly industrializing but that's no excuse for it's lack of morals and common sense. Disgusting animals and I'm not talking about the zoo ones.

Those patrons are more animals than the lions ever will be. They might be rapidly industrializing, but that's no excuse for their lack of morals and common sense!

Wow,just not right and not funny! The Zoo should handle situations when they see visitors acting malicious towards the animals! If the person or person's didn't stop after a warning,ok call the police! I was at a park and kids were throwing rocks at the squirrels, the parents said nothing,so I yelled at the kids, told them how wrong it was, however they didn't speak or understand english! Luckily the squirrels ran up a tree before they got hurt.

Those poor defenseless animals:( I'm sure those lions wanted them heartless a holes for a quick snack. I hate animal abusers. The zoo should press charges.

They(lions) are not the scary beasts. Humans are. And I hope that the scary beasts that threw the snow balls at the lions know karma is a bitch. And what goes around comes around.
