Woman Gives Birth at Zoo

The most recent birth at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo is not the furry bundle of joy you might expect. According to Daily Mail U.K., a woman gave birth on the wildlife path of the zoo in Syracuse, New York.
The mom-to-be went into labor while visiting the facility with a group of adult and children. Once the action started, one of the adults took the children in the group to the lion exhibit. Zookeepers used their animal expertise to help the woman deliver her baby girl near the bear exhibit.
"I honestly didn't expect her to deliver at the zoo," zoo educator Liz Schmidt told the Daily Mail U.K. "I thought we'd pop her in a wheelchair and she'd be good to go to the hospital."
Instead Schmidt ended up using her first-aid training to assist the 21-year-old with the delivery. Other zoo officials did their best to keep crowds from the scene and provide supplies.
The birth went surprisingly smooth considering its wild location. Staff focused on keeping mom and baby warm while they waited for an ambulance. The mother-daughter duo were taken to the hospital soon after the event, where both are said to be in good condition.

Apparently some women do not have really hard labor pains until they are ready to give birth--!

Good grief--do women not have labor pains a bit in advance of delivery any more?
