Breed: American Bulldog
Why they made the list: These strong-willed canines are banned in Denmark and Singapore. In 2009, a five-year-old girl was severely mauled by an American Bulldog. In 2011, one was killed after attacking children on a school bus.
I have a pitt who was used as a bait dog. You would think she woukd be aggressive but she isn't. I have a 9 year old who rolls aound on the floor with her and climbs all over playing with her and I have a 13week old who the dog loves as well. I have taken pictures of my dog with my newborn laying on her. She cries when the baby cries pushing at me to get up for the baby. Every morning she goes in my 9 year olds room to wake him. Her day is spent by the side of the baby. She sleeps with her head by her or she lays next to her. I trust my pitt more then a cat or my parents lil dogs. Husbands attack their wives, children kill their parents, men rape women and they are still in the world and when that occurs its oh they had a babd childhood. But just having the name doinh nothing wrong its the dog. There needs to be more knowledge about these pups. I would keep owning them and trying to make ignorant people aware. Its all how you raise them. Like anything else show them love and they will show you.
I have a pit that was used as a bait dog. You woukd think that her past would cause her to be aggressive. She is the sweetest dog I have ever owned. I have a 9 year old and a 13week old. However a person outside of home can make her go into protective mama pup of my two children she loves everyone who I bring in my home. I lay my 13week on her and take pics and every morning what my son gets up for school she goes to greet him and she climbs on the sofa to put her head next the baby. When the baby cries she cries too and gives the baby a lick to let her know she's there. They are really a misunderstood creature. I would trust her with my kids over my parents lil dogs. People need more knowledge on them.
I have an red nose pit and red nose cross with and english mastiff and i all so have two small kids thats 3-5 and they have never been bittin they just dont play with him cause he has got big mh dog have bark at strager and come very portective on certian sounds and i have never had an problem with any of my dog attacking any one so even if they did band them it would just be the next breed in line to take the place off the pitbull cause you still have dum owners so whats the point of trying to band them
Well i have own a pit bull for years and pit bulls are really people lovers its all how you raise your dog thats why they dont make so good of an gaurd dog but if you take any dog and keep it use to one inviorment it will become offensive its in a dog nature i dont care what kind of breed it is poodle pit mastiff rock more smaller dogs attack then pit bull i dont hear no body trying to band them why cause its a smaller breed and there not scared of it but the thing is if you socialize your dog with other dogs and people you shouldnt have no problem cant blame the doh its just doing what it is taught same as an child if you taught them to kill that child is gone to keep doing so its set in there ways so hope this helps kingpitt
Just Googe Pit Bull attacks and see how many children have been maimed and killed by this unpredictable breed. You will get thousands of hits....Nice to see other some other countries have common sense when it comes to potentially dangerous dog breeds.
I completely understand where APB owners are coming from but the fact remains they can be very dangerous dogs. And yes while there are many great APB owners out there and know how to control their animal there are 10 times as many that are just purchased by idiots that want "the toughest dog" as a status symbol. Those are the ones that attack and run loose. When I walk my Mastiff I know her triggers and when to avoid certain situations. An English Mastiff has one of the strongest bite force out of any dog - almost 3 times that of an APB - but for the most part the aggression has been breed out of them. They were war dogs in mid-evil times but a gentle giant now, well for the most part. I have come across extremely gentle APBs that I am sure come from great owners and breeders but again it's the idiots that purchase these dogs as the cool gangsta symbol they have become that cause IMO the majority of the attacks associated with this dog.
Yes breeds have tendencies but not all fit the profile. My neighbor had a spaniel that was mean and dangerous but my husband had a bullmastiff that was docile. Recent example, I went to petsmart last weekend and had more small to mid size dogs and labs bark and growl at me and my dog than the rescue group with pit looking dogs. Only one of the dozen pit mixes was barking at my dog where many of the "normal" dog breeds there with owners were obnoxious and aggressive.
I would just like to sound off with a PITBULLS are not a breed people. Most people mistake breeds of dogs all the time. I have worked in Animal Control in 2 different states and both places people mistake many breeds as Pitbulls. I have personally witnessed similar breeds to the " Pitbulls" that were a cause of injury or destruction. In multiple instances it was a black lab. Many people see a stocky, muscular, large headed dog automatically its a "Pitbull". So the category is banned. Which is not fair at all. That's playing a race card or discriminating against a name.
PS Training or abuse does NOT make a dog aggressive. Aggression is GENETIC & is only BROUGHT out by training or abuse. BIG DIFFERENCE. ie Border Collies would not entertain any idea of biting a human. Their whole psyche has been molded thru SELECTION of breeding partners to herd sheep, period. Yes, they can do agility but NOT protection work.
Any dog can be trained to do protection work, it might take others longer to learn but if you started training a Border Collie for protection when it was young, I bet it could do it; they are smart dogs and pick up on what you are asking them quickly. Aggression is both genetic and the environment. It is also true that any dog can be trained to fight if they have what it takes. I hate dog fighting but I found a site on vimeo where they fight many different types of breeds against pit bulls. For example a saint bernard, you would not picture a dog that was bred for saving people to be trained to fight but it was and it fought the same as the pit bulls. It is revolting but im pretty sure these videos were probably going on in a country where dog fighting is legal.

The Lord above could come down & tell you all the TRUTH about dogs, but you would not even believe him. Most of you have LIMITED experience & are NOT professionals so are only giving opinions. Most pure breds are NOT well bred. A Registration is only a birth certificate & NO sign of careful selection, knowledged of the breed blueprint or dedication to breeding correct dogs. The BIG probs with PBs are : their reproduction is NOT in the hands of those with knowledge of correct dog BREEDING & 2) they don't just BITE... & let go. THEY SAVAGE : KILL & MAIM. Not 1 million PBs are worth the horrible death of their owner or having the feet chewed off of an innocent jogger. The dog scene in the US is a shambles. Americans are grosely unsophisticated about dogs. Spend a month in Germany & you will see real dog breeding, real dog people, proper facilities & responsible attitudes.
