According to Yahoo, a Brooklyn couple has been indicted for housing a 3-foot alligator inside their apartment.

In October, a search warrant allowed officials to enter Michael and Alisa Volpe's home. Police discovered that the couple had been keeping the exotic reptile inside a tank in the living room of their basement apartment. The Kings County District Attorney's office also found illegal weapons and drugs in the couple's home.

This is not the first time the police have found alligators inside of a New York residence. In 2011, Animal Care and Control rescued six alligators from a local neighborhood. More recently, two alligators were removed from a Crown Heights apartment on September 13. New York City's health code does not allow residents to house any kind of wild animal.
