Grumpy Cat Gives Back with T-Shirt Sales

Just because she looks like a crotchety old cat, it doesn't mean Tardar Sauce is a real Scrooge. According to TODAY, the Internet's infamous Grumpy Cat is doing her best to give back this holiday season.

Tardar Sauce's famous frown first started gracing computer screens when her owner, Bryan Bundesen, posted photos of the unhappy-looking kitty to Reddit. Tardar Sauce was dubbed Grumpy Cat by users and quickly became an online sensation. Fans have become so enamored with the feline's unusual look, caused by a genetic defect, that they've started demanding merchandise featuring the furry face. Bundesen was happy to oblige, creating t-shirts and Christmas cards graced with Grumpy Cat.

In order to show there are no grumps in the Bundesen family, Tardar Sauce and her owner donate part of their sales to various animal rescues. The pair has already made two large donations to different no-kill shelters.

While Bundesen is happy with Tardar Sauce's fame, he hopes that these efforts show that behind the Grumpy Cat image is a docile and loving feline. "We think she looks so grumpy, you can't help but feel happy when you look at her," Bundesen told TODAY. "She's like a stress reliever for everyone."
