You know you've made it when you have a fish species named after you. According to Scientific American, five new species of fish were named after President Obama, Clinton, Carter and Vice President Gore.

The five new species of brilliantly colored freshwater fish are called darters. They were discovered in river drainages in eastern North America. This is the etheostoma obama, named after the president for his environmental leadership and support of clean energy.

This is the ethostoma jimmycarter. President Carter was given a fish species in his name for his work in preserving lands for wilderness protection.
Darters are the smallest members of the perch family and are aptly named for their speed. They often "dart" under rocks and sediment.

There have been nearly 200 species of darters that have been identified. A majority of them live in Alabama and Tennessee.
The etheostoma gore was named after the former vice president for his environmental leadership, as well.

Some species of darters are very common, like the rainbow darter, but some are extremely rare, such as the diamond darters.

Darters come in all sorts of colors, which set them apart from one another. Darter males are known for their brilliant coloring, from jade green with yellow stripes to blues, reds and hints of purple.
