START OF SOMETHING NEW

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife reports that wolves from different packs in Oregon are beginning to interbreed. 

SMALL BUT BEAUTIFUL

At the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, an Egyptian tortoise roughly the size of a quarter looks stunning in front of the camera.

WARM & TOASTY

Temperatures are dropping, which means zookeepers at the Drusillas Park Zoo in the U.K. are making sure all the animals stay nice and toasty during cold nights. Here, meerkats are pictured huddling together, providing warmth to one another. 

IT'S JELLY TIME

At the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, gorgeous jellyfish float around in the "Jellyfish Laboratory."

KING OF ANIMAL PLANET

Animal Planet star Dave Salmoni poses with his baby lion in New York. Salmoni, a Canadian large predator animal expert, is the star of "Frontier Earth." The show features Mr. Salmoni guiding viewers on exquisite journeys, surrounded by animals.

MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

This adorable baby gorilla is the product of two paired gorillas at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Illinois. So adorable!

HONORABLE HOUND

Nico, a military working dog, is pet by a soldier at Fort Lee, Virginia, as they await a ribbon-cutting celebration for the new 217th Military Police Detachment building. 

CUTE CHUMS

A Dall sheep gets a new friend at the Zoo Sauvage in Canada. The sheep (right) was alone, so a new companion (left) was offered to the lonely animal. Looks like friendship to us!

CHECK US OUT

Two beautiful 9-month-old cheetahs were examined after being released into a quarantine facility at the zoo in Miami, Florida. The duo were born on March 6, 2012, and are originally from Pretoria, South Africa.

A GRAND MOMENT

Two trophies are placed in front of the panda enclosure of Funi during the Australian Open Trophy Tour at the Adelaide Zoo. The trophies are for the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup and the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup.

JOY TO BO

Michelle Obama is accompanied by Bo, the First Dog, at a preview of the White House decorations. "Joy to All" is the theme of the White House Christmas 2012.

At the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Washington, two 14-week-old cubs pose pretty for the camera.

An adorable two-month-old sloth lays comfortably on the stomach of its mother at the zoo in Halle, Germany. The zoo, founded 111 years ago, has been breeding sloths since 1996.

TIME TO CELEBRATE

For the first time in 30 years, a beautiful bright orange brillangoer is born at the Burgers' Zoo in the Netherlands. Today, the  animal will be visible to the public. Congratulations to the baby and mother!

Perth Zoo is excited to welcome a beautiful blue-billed duckling into its family, which hatched just a few weeks ago. The duckling is still sticking close to its mom and dad.

STOP ANIMAL TESTING

Lou Wegner, the founder of Kids Against Animal Cruelty, poses with his rescue dog, Pearl, in Burbank, California. Lou is 16 years old and started Kids Against Animal Cruelty when he was 14. The organization uses social media to encourage people to adopt from high-kill shelters. So far, 20,000 pets have been saved from euthanasia in two years. Good going, Lou!

Ace the dog models the Wandant, a device developed in Japan to maintain a dog's health. The device works by recording a dog's activity level, among other things, such as the number of steps taken.

The Inca tern is a popular bird in the month of "Movember," due to its lovely mustache. The beautiful bird inhabits the coasts of Peru and Chile.

Asian elephant, Sundara, gave birth this morning to a healthy calf in Chester, U.K.! Both mother and baby are doing great. Congratulations, mama.

PYGMY MILESTONE

At the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida, a beautiful and rare pygmy hippo was born on November 15. It is only the second birth in the zoo's history and is a huge milestone for this precious species. 

SWEET MOTHERLY LOVE

Tally, a white Swiss Shepherd dog has been nursing three orphaned tiger cubs at at the Oktyabrsky Zoo in southern Russia after their mother abandoned them. Their birth mother, Bagira, also refused to feed a previous set of newborns.

At the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois, a mother giraffe is pictured planting a kiss on her male calf born on Nov. 12, 2012. The sweet baby is the 58th giraffe born at this zoo. How cute is he?

In Stuttgart, Germany, Wolfgang Weller holds a gorgeous golden eagle to promote a pet fair called "Animal Stuttgart." 

PLEASANTLY PLUMP

A pregnant elephant is measured by a zookeeper at the Hanover Zoo in Germany. The lovely elephant mom-to-be is expected to give birth in December. 

SUAVE SPHYNX

In Birmingham, England, a Sphynx cat is shown off by its owner at the Supreme Championship Cat Show. This cat show is one of the largest in Europe, with over 1000 cats shown.

THANKFUL BEARS

Three hungry grizzly bears enjoy pumpkins at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Ohio. They were celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday.

LOVELY LITTLE LION

In Belgium at the Antwerp Zoo, Nestor the lion cub enjoys time with his mother at the zoo's large outdoor enclosure. Adorable!
