Watch out, Uggie. There's a new dog star in town and he's also got a rags-to-riches story. Director Sean Baker was gifted the once-orphaned mutt when as a wee pup. At first, Baker was reluctant to welcome the creature into his home, but after realizing his potential, Baker adopted the dog and gave him a name — Boonee.
A bit of a stage dad, Baker enrolled Boonee in rigorous training. He graduated at the top of his class in both Obedience at the Urban Pet Academy in Los Angeles and Tricks 101 at the Andrea Arden Dog Training Academy in New York City. Thanks to his undeniable talent (and dad), Boonee was able to land the role of "Starlet," the canine actor in Baker's new movie. When he's not acting, he's just a regular ol' dog living the life in LA, tweeting regularly about his day-to-day. He hopes to one day become a therapy dog.
